Laughing Laughing

Konfureed is quite entertaining and very colorful. I'll always remember Eedo Maka Ciire, the lady we used to buy our milk from. She never missed an opportunity to cuss at any kid who mistreated her livestock... Laughing

Koronto, but I have a tough time understanding what "reer konfured" consists of? For example my parents both hail from Gedo, lakin I don't see any difference in their accent and someone from say Bari for example. But then you have the people from Shabeelaha, and the Hawiye in Mudug and they have their own lahjad where they replace like the n with the h and some other stuff. Are they considered reer konfured? If so then there isn't one reer konfured dialect but different dialects in the south. Please enlighten me.

Ismahan, shame on you!

Personally, you can't tell what clan I am, simply from listening to my accent. We moved around so much, I've picked up different dialects, it's nausiating.

Not to forget af may-may. So in the south you have off the top of my head

1)Af may may
2)like the Abgal/Hawiye accent

Then you have Ogaden and Marehan, and who knows what their accent is called. Perplexing.

Depends on who I am with.

With Rer Xamar, I put on their accent

With Rer Wuuqoyi, I put on their accent

With Rer Mudug, I swear and cuss like them.

Luq-Ganane,

From my understanding, Konfureed is anything south of Galkacyo. Anything above Galkacyo is considered Bari & then Waqooyi.

Reer Konfureed consist of different clans, both Hawiye & Daarood among others. The most recognisable Konfureed accent is Xaayoow (Abgaal, Murusade & Duduble).

Bay & Bakol are different in their own regard, because Maay-Maay is their common dialect.

Shabelle, Jubba & Banadir regions are also considered Konfureed and there is great similarities between the dialects spoken in these regions regardless of clans.

Gedo might resemble the accent spoken in Central Somalia, closer to Mudug accent than Konfureed.

I could be wrong though.
