To play with the Name of the Lady is such a horrific is grounds for immediate head decapitation ala la guillotine! Seriously-- What is the point of this movie? Why will they take a small snip of truth like-- that ballroom dance fling she had with an irish rogue and make it into an epic romance? I mean--this movie stands against all reasons of Jane Austen embodiment; for one- i know they never ended up together--so that alone guarantees an unhappy ending. (Now were this Becoming Charlote Bronte-- the sad ending will be suitable. But it is not. ) Two- Who really knows what the conversations entailed with the migid irish dude? Who has the office and authority to write their dialogue?? Or make a becoming Jane??Three -How dare they suggest that Her ladyship epic romance novels was a result of this man loving her.I mean--is this screaming chauvinism or am I loquaciously a feminist? I refuse this vampid insinuations, and i refuse the premise of this movie as becoming Jane! The whole idea is fantasitically a farce.
I will watch it nevertheless-- for the sake of the costume and the 18th century austere scenery.I might walk out of the movie if i am particularly vexed.
Zulaikalool Nayaa i do have convictions, but also i am not exactly a nutty Janaites' -- i can have an open mind and see what they bring to the table in this an already looking debacle of a movie. Besides--the costumes is to die for!
oh please basra, no one is ever gonna be good enough pull a jane austen adaptation that'll suffice to your delight. sense and sensibility didn't meet up to your expatations, now this..why don't u do one yourself since u're the unoffical caretaker of "dear" jane's reputation.
nayaa never judge a book by....oh hell what i'm saying...u do judge a book by its cover.
ok let me put it like this. i believe ann heathway is in it? wern't u ranting and raving about devil wears prada? so give miss ann a chance then...maybe she can pull off lady jane.
Zulaika!!!! Zulaika!! U have the nerve to 'slip' in that
'so give miss ann a chance then...maybe she can pull off lady jane.'
NO ONE CAN PLAY HER NO ONE!!!
Well........ Maybe Gwyneth Paltrow.
Nayaa actually Sense and Sensibility directed by Ang Lee, script written by Emma Thompson was exquisite. And i mean as an adaptation coming close to 'good enuf' --the movie was filmed exquisitely, and also Emma caught the bottom line of the book and that me like. I was only disappointed because it was short and they got rid of many crucial characters.Worst-- they eliminated a particular scene which i would have loved to see-- its a scene in a fancy English jewelry shop-Robert Ferrars- the brother of the main Hero Edward F. Walks into a shop and stands in front of the two beautiful Miss Dashwoods-- Jane Austen wrote the most funniest scene ever! LOL It went like -- 'He stood there--totally absorbed in his ivory jewelry holder box, looking at the dashwoods--as if to demand admiration rather than give admiration!
Anyway nayaa --if they would hire me to write and direct a jane austen adaptation, i would do a magnificent job. I know the Lady from the tip of her head to the brand of her underwear!!!
Huh? Are you ok?? Are you even cerebrally fit to see it? Somehow i think this is not your cup of flick. You are more suited to watch adoon themed movies like Big maamas, Fridays or the Diary of a mad Black woman. Something along that line 'huuno'! You will save yourself a lot of yawnings and intermittent breaks to the fridge for bites.
Big Mamma's House was just stupid, Diary of a mad black Woman was alright. Friday, the original one, was funny as hell. Im not really into Black movies, they make me angry. The same actors, same story lines.....same blaze blah.
Have either of you seen Tristan and Isolde? Ah, it was so sweet.
Trista and isolde was a pathetic attempt to romantisize a somewhat ridiculous sub plot story. The movie had nothing going on for it --except the beauty of the couple. The only way i could tolerate it is--they are drop dead gorgeous.
Nayaa i knew u would watch those kinds of movies. See -- i am a genius.
