BAGHDAD - Four American soldiers were killed during combat in Baghdad, including three in a single roadside bombing, the U.S. military said Friday.


Three soldiers were killed and 11 wounded Thursday when a bomb exploded near their combat patrol in eastern Baghdad, the military said in a statement. Four of the wounded were treated and returned to duty, it said.

Another soldier was killed and three wounded the same day during combat operations in a western section of the capital, an earlier statement said. The military did not release details of the incident.


A suicide car bomber slammed into an Iraqi police station northeast of Baghdad on Thursday, killing at least 53 people, police said. Altogether at least 142 Iraqis were killed or found dead on Thursday, including 70 who died in three separate bombings in Baghdad.

What about the BBC? As far as I know the BBC is government subsidized entity. What is that bad about that? The CBC: Canadian Broadcasting Corp is also publicly funded and is doing wonderful job. But in America things are grim; one man own so much: With the purchase of Dow Jones and Company, Mr, Murdoch adds not just the Wall Street Journal to his holdings but also Barron's, the Far Eastern Economic Review, MarketWatch, Dow Jones Indexes, the Ottaway group of community newspaper and the online database Factiva.

Prior to this week Murdoch's News Corp. already owned over 175 newspapers around the world including the New York Post.
