Firstly, banning an entire faith worshipped by 1.4 billion people is unimaginable, to say the least. Secondly, banning the Qur'an text doesn’t mean you are banning an entire Ummah, because faith rests in the human soul and not entirely the book they read. Thirdly, this idiot shouldn’t be in a parliament representing any constituency anywhere since he doesn’t know his ass from his elbow. I am surprised people would elect such un-cultured, un-educated, un-balanced, xenophobic individual to a seat in a parliament. We should pay close attention to him and his constituency....they are truly the evil ones here.

Christian foreign workers in Saudi Arabia are allowed at times to have a single copy of the Bible for their personal use, although many have complained in recent years that their copy was shredded upon arival at customs. Smuggling a Bible into Saudi Arabia, or possesing more than a single copy, is a capital offense. Giving one to a muslim constitutes proseletizing, which is an especially offensive capital offense. In recent weeks, at least two separate groups of foreign Christians were reported to have been arrested in the kingdom.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan earlier also wrote to the government, urging immediate action and saying it understood the group included women and children.

A week after the Pakistani were arrested, the mutawwa raided a private prayer meeting in the capital attended by some 60 Ethiopians and Eritreans and arrested five elders, according to Compass Direct, a news service that focuses on religious persecution.

International Christian Concern reported recently that an Indian Christian, Samkutty Varghese, had been arrested on the streets of Riyadh last March after members of the religious police found a Hindi-language Bible in his bag."

I am sorry but you are confusing this forum with an Arab forum.....Saudi Arabia is not in somalia or the horn of Africa.....the only thing we share with them is the religion. So dont tell me how they treat the Christians in Saudi Arabia, ..is non of my bussines... all I care is cushitic people living in the horn of Africa.

Note that all religious expression other than Wahabism is suppressed in the Kingdom. It is not just the Christians and it is not just Saudi Arabia that has this attitude with respect to religions other than Islam. It is my understanding that Islamic principles are still preventing Christian converts and Bahais from getting correct designations of their religious status on their Egyptian passports.

Hypocrisy probably does have something to do with Western government support for the Saudi regime, but so does public ignorance of what Wahaabism actually stands for.

There are two sides to this. Was the provocation Wilder's letter, or was the provocation the attack on Eshan Jami ?
