Petrol Business, Somalia

Post by Executive »

This is market we have been looking into. I would like to know who controls or own the Somali petrol facilities of Siyaad Barre's govt such as haamaha shidaalka. Is there a possibility that a business entity could buy access to those facilities??

What companies import and distributes petrol across Somalia. Are and there any Somali Companies else where in East Africa that are in this Market. I heard that there is a well established Somali company that distributes petrol in Uganda.

Thanks in Advance.

I do not know about Somalia, but in Kenya there are somali owned petroleum importer/distributor/exporter companies. The few that I know of are:

1-Hass Petroleum based in the capital and with networks in western kenya. It distributes finished products through its main Kisumu depot and also exports them to central africa.

2-Hashi Empex which mainly deals in exports to DRC.

3- Dakawoe Transporters. If I remember correctly he has a LPG Distribution Dealership in Kenya through Total Partner Dealers.

There are few others I've heard of like the late Yassin Ali Nur Bidde's family with their transportation network throughout eastern africa. Jeester based in Zambia.

Petroleum sector is too demanding bro, in addition to needing a substantial equity to start of with. With the entry of Kenya Pipeline Company into the market, the whole sector of finished products importation, transportation had been shut down with the except of multinationals who are allowed to import limited quota of finished petroleum products. Somalis like other local businesses concentrate on distribution and exports to other regions.

Good luck
