I have a life. My participation in Snet fits in between my lab work.

My interest in Somalis and my participation in Somali projects has a long history. I know far too much about Somalis to be a wannabe. I am attracted to the Somali personality because of past friendships, but I don't see any actual advantage in being one. I see myself only as a good neighbor.

It may interest you to know I not only have never been banned, I have never received a warning. Furthermore, I still have active accounts on both SimplySomali and SOL. So I don't think you can be after me because I have broken any rules.

I was macallin afIngriisika when I was in Somalia and perhaps it is just nostalgia that makes me think I can continue that role here. Regardless, you can make "stupid" and "old" apply to me, but "hag" is a bit of a stretch.
If you understood what you were saying, it was indeed an insult worth deleting.

I think you will find in this life that a good argument takes the wind out of your opponents' sails far more effectively than insults. You ought to try it.

Grant. What makes you think its OK for Muslims on Somalinet to be disprespected in the guise of "free speech" and "intelligent discourse"? I'm not Somali, and have never been there. But I'm a Muslim, along with another Billion and a half Muslims from around the world. I don't take it kindly when my religion or beloved prophet Muhammed (Peace and blessings be upon him) are insulted. Furthurmore, I don't take kindly to people such as yourself sticking up for them, and advocating light penalites for them. Your the type of losers who thought the derrogotorey, demeaning political "cartoons" the Danish newspapers published on Prophet Mohamed were fine and an expression of politicial expression. Perhaps your loss of touch with modern times, has caused you to go to the other extreme of the modern day norm of Islamic bigotry to prove you "fit in" with the times, and this generation. I did not suggest a light penalty for insults.

I suggested a series of short bannings in order to change the modus operandi. If you can change the way someone operates, why lose the benefit of the good contributions of some of these people? Mac is not the only one involved.

If you heard me promoting disrespect for anyone's religion, you heard wrong.

On the other hand, I do not feel that burning churches and demonstrating against the cartoons in England with signs reading "cut off their heads" was appropriate. A peaceful demonstration would have been far more productive.

These things need to be based on mutual respect.

I'm Ethiopian (Tigray), and in coming here, the onus is on ME to show the utmost respect to the Somali nation. Do you think my feelings might have something to do with Somalia being the second poorest country in the world, with no central government for 16 years, several hundred thousand in refugeee camps and a full half it's population in diaspora?
