Xassey,

A picture gallery pitting the bombed out worst areas of Kabul, and the absolute best areas of Xamar isn't going to convince anybody. Mogadishu is by far the ugliest, most destructed capital in the world. The sooner you and I come to grips with that, the better it will be.

Luq is correct.

Kabul is a massive city and some neighborhoods are very impressive and heavenly looking while others look like hell. Xamar just looks like crap and its hot and dusty and nasty.

Kabul is hotter. On a normal day, the average temperature in Kabul is somewhere above 110 degrees.

Correct, but in Kabul the temperature changes rapidly; but since Somalia is on the equator, the temperature never goes under 80 and never hits 90 degrees Fahrenheit, from my understanding. Kabul summers hit in the 100's and Kabul winters dip low into the the negatives.

It doesn't change the fact though that Xamar is dusty, and Kabul is not. Google Earth does not lie. Ever.

Somalia has a much brighter future than Afghanistan, if you guys can learn to give religion a rest and stop killing everyone around you and each other.

Afghanistan does not have a homogenous population, Somalia does.
Afghanistan has no natural resources, Somalia does.
Both countries are dry and poor for agriculture.
Somalia has lots of coastline and four deep water ports for import / export, Afghanistan has no coastline.

Maddy: U.S. meddling policies have led to the chaos in Somalia. Once the zealots in Washington leave us alone..then we can have a bright future, but as long as your government keep sending Fugly walruses e.g. Jendaya Fraziers to undermine Somalia's autonomy...Somalia's future will remain uncertain.

As long as Salafists are trying to seize control of Somalia, America is going to meddle. Ditto Ethiopia. Whoever wants to run Somalia can not:

a. maintain irredentist claims on the Ogaden.
b. support Islamic government.

Maddy: The U.S. government's meddling business did not start with Somalia's religious movements, so don't pull that card on me.

The U.S.C. & other opposition groups were funded by Washington, like with Nicarauga, Colombia, the Philipines, etc. the U.S. government armed rebel groups to overthrow Somalia's government in 1991. Back then Islamic movements were non-existent and the threat to Ethiopia was minimal since Bare's government signed peace accords with Mengistu in 1989. Which led to the exchange of prisoners between Somalia & Ethiopia.
