Why being Clan conscious always helps.

There was a student fundraising that was going on. The students were doing carwashes, selling food, donations, etc to benefit the people back home. One of the kids said "well since Somalia is a big place, this is where we will help first". It didn't take me long to figure out this kid's tribe so I said "no, this is a more needier place we will help here first". This kid and his cousin were positively livid and proceeded to confront me. By then my suspicions that they were tribally motivated was made certain so I was not a single bit shy saying "are you doing this because it's your clan area or is it really more needier then the place I said". If Somalis could turn red these dudes would have brightened up the room. Somalis always get deeply uncomfortable when the true qabiil element is broadcasted.
