Addis Ababa - The United States said on Friday that it is donating $96m to Ethiopia in recognition of the Horn of Africa country's "strategic importance".

The money, channelled through USAid, was to fund agricultural and private sector development, health care, primary education and good governance, a statement said.

Ethiopia received US backing last year after it deployed troops to neighbouring Somalia to overthrow an Islamist movement accused of harbouring extremist elements.

USAid mission director Glenn Anders said: "The agreements ... fulfil and even exceed the commitments in our five-year strategic development plan ..."

Washington has always been the enemy of Somali people.


Back in 1977, when USSR switched support to Ethiopians, Washington promised support to Somalia but never came.

Again, when Barre's regime turned very oppressive and started massacring Somali citizens in North Somalia and later on also Southern Somalia, Washington was still financially supporting the dictator regime in Mogadishu. They withdrew their support around 1989 when it became clear that Barre's regime was doomed to fall since Mogadishu masses stood up against it.

In the 90s the US again came back to Somalia to safeguard its oil consessions which it dubiously received at the end of Barre's regime. They wanted to install their own puppet government in Somalia but were fortunately defeated on 3 oct 1993, which led to their rapid withdrawal from Somalia.

After 95, they have constantly supported Somali warlords, which culminated to their paying for the heads of Somali wadaado. When the Somali warlords failed in 2006 and were defeated, they switched to Ethiopia and financed it to invade Somalia.

To this day, Washington is financing the Ethiopian occupation of Somalia.

The Money wasnt all given to the TFG at once. The TFG will get the money in installments. Since you are from foreing country, USA is more close to Somali people than your dowlad ku sheeg.

1/ Do not see any reason why I should support this move , I am not majeerten therefore not bound by blind qabiil.
