For a long time, I have been championing for the rights of the Digil and Mirifle people because they have suffered the most during the civil wars. During Afwayne regime, the people of Digil and Marifle were treated as outsiders. Now that Digil and Mirifle occupy their territories and are like any other Somali clan, I couldn’t help but notice that nowadays the Digil and Mirifle policies are on the negative side of the justice scale where they are trying to deny the rights of the people who share the land with them.
Bakool, for example, is 50% Digil/Mirifle and 50% Ogaadeen/Cawylyahan. Cities like Yeed, Aato, Ceelbarde, and Rabdhuure are Ogaaden cities and are all in Bakool but the Digil and Mirifle want to refute that and would want to make Bakool an entire Raxanwayn territory.
What do you think? Is this a new trend in Somali politics and power sharing? Are the former oppressed becoming the oppressors all the sudden?

Digil and Mirifle are two totally different tribes, they were just lumped together by old Somali governments because they are "Sab" people. Mirifle (or Rahanweyn) didn't really suffer per se, and have been expanding aggressively in Somalia for a few centuries now. It was the Rahanweyn that drove the SNA out of Baidoa.
The Digil on the other hand, have been in Somalia much longer than the Mirifle, who are relatively recent immigrants (1600s or so) and some scholars think they predate the Somali clans. They have been screwed over by everyone, and are STILL screwed over today.

James;
Thanks for history lesson. I am not from Bakool but I have some relatives who are from Ceel-Barde. What is your take on the Ogaadeens in Bakool who aren't even counted these days as Bakoolians? You hear Bakool but you never hear the Cawlyahan people who occupy half of the Bakool province.

Well the border is insane, noone is questioning that, but there are so many situations like this. I mean look at the Marehan in Galgadud, or the Hawiye in Gedo. The border demarcating Ethiopia/Somalia/Kenya has caused a lot of "orphaned" districts.

Gudhad,
When my father was growing up in Gedo, he talked about how Awilyahan, Marehan and Raxanwein were very cordial to each other like brothers. However, since the war the Raxanwein started to become greedy. The only language they understand right now is force, and that is where Absame should take Sades lead. They've been expelled from Gedo, and now I see there turning on Absame degaan.
