First pass of north Somalia map
So far I've got the districts and general borders down, but more precise borders will need a lot more work.

There is no foking Maakhir, foking Giglis are just huffing and puffing. Both Sool and Sanaag are as in matter of fact lawless with Puntland loosely controlling it.

Somaliland controls up to Adhicadeeye along the highway, though it's possible Puntland can get up to there. Somaliland claims to control Buhoodle.

James Dahl
your map is not working , where can I see it .
you are right about that .
The problem in North Somali as in therms of Somali Peninsula is that the dhulbahante tribe is living quite lawless , the tribal capital has a very high percentage of men and boys carrying machineguns.
I don't know why but how come dhulbahante can't put their act together ?
To estabilish a socalled Darwiish lawless state is not a good solution .
But on the other hand If they dont wake , their smaller harti brother will annex their tuulos in Sanaag right James Dahl

Re: First pass of north Somalia map
I think they already have. While making this map I tried to refine down which villages were on the Maakhiri side of the border with a reliable Maakhir contact. He confirmed twice that the Maakhir border goes up to near Garadag. So the Warsangeli have taken over the Dulbahante villages in southwestern Sanaag that Puntland used to garrison.
My server is a little slowish, I'll mirror it on Wikipedia.

Hi James
big question when using somali people as source you should doublecheck their credibility. There is great difference between a casual western somali guy mid 30s and a old caaqil or sultan with great regional and tribal knowledge.
About your source confirming Maakhir goes up to Garadag , you seemed to have forgotten your own formula , namely letting the small towns surrounding the larger towns define border.
Before the Maakhir reach Garadag they have to pass the nomad's grazing territories and between Garadag and " Maakhir " there is a big whole of land wich is Isaaqian nomadic , the hegemonic clan of north .
Who is your source ?
PS I found another map of North Somali , check out the density of tuulos in Buuhoodle and Ceel Afweyn

Re: First pass of north Somalia map
I'll need to get more info on southwestern Sanaag, as that's the biggest question mark on the map at the moment.
The other question marks are the exact border between Somaliland and Puntland through Sanaag other than Adhicadeeye, and the exact borders of the state regions, as they have changed considerably.

Re: First pass of north Somalia map
can't see it yet -
but slow down on Jubaland * the leader is missing and its not really viable today
And still you are forgetting the facts .
Ceel Afweyn district is Habar Jeclo
Badhan district is Warsangeli .
Ceerigaabo the largest chunk in the middle is quiestionable about the tuulos and nomads.
But Somaliland rules Ceel Afweyn and Ceerigaabo by de facto control.
I think you should redraw your maps a bit more in favor of Somaliland.
I actually called my reer abti in Midhisho and they say Karin turwaa is Habr Yunis subclan settlement . But its more or less being abandoned in favor or Ceerigaabo .
PS

Re: First pass of north Somalia map
Ceel Afweyne, Ceerigaabo and Garadag are all at least 60km over onto the Somaliland side on this map, don't worry.
Try the mirror I put on wikipedia a few posts up. It's huge by the way, over 6000 pixels

Re: First pass of north Somalia map
Cabdallah, for goodnessake just shut up dude, your a friggin bicidyahan of all people...the most reer baadiye, remote, inhospitabale, impoverished clan out of all of majeerteen (to maxamuud saleebaan you could be oromo for all they care) and 24/7 you are yapping about qaw and layl kase and warsangeli and some shit
you ARE the laangaab, you practically fall off the majeerteen line from your 38 grandfather and count apart from warsangeli and dhubahante at 40, yet they are clans and you get kicked out of your only two villages in the world cagaaran and isgoyska by a small sub-clan of mareexaan practically way down on the line scale
inaa lilaah do you see a little bit of yourself in everyone else, is that why you are so bitter??
