Pictures: Somalis in Chicago as early as 1915

have seen these pictures on another website. What were Somalis doing at the Chicago Police Staion in 1915? Were they investigaged by the Police? Were they Slaves? Were they refugees?What do these pictures tell you?

I’ve seen these photos and others like it before. They are something of a mystery. I know that immigrants from Africa have been coming to America for centuries but all of the info on their journeys was more than likely not documented do to the fact that most Africans were brought here as slaves.

I also know for a fact that a lot of times African people were brought from Africa and Europe for entertainment purposes only (sad but true). This happened well into the 20th century. Given the exotic looks of Somalis I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case in some of those photos.

Of course this is all speculation and I can be completely wrong.

thats not chicago and is't either 1915. its 1930s in italy, and those are somalis who just come italy from southern somalia. those white people in the fotos are italians. as may you know 1930s somalia was an a italian colony.

I have seen this picture before. I also have seen newspaper picture of Somali Jockey, horse rider, who used to Champinion couple of times by winning derbs. And according to that newspaper he was murdered because racial descrimiantions. He was found murdered. White people couldn't stomach there were black who were horse riders!.
