More Blacks Live in Prison Cells Than in College Dorms

More than three times as many black people live in prison cells as in college dorms, the government said in a report to be released Thursday.

The ratio is only slightly better for Hispanics, at 2.7 inmates for every Latino in college housing. Among non-Hispanic whites, more than twice as many live in college housing as in prison or jail.

The numbers, driven by men, do not include college students who live off campus. Previously released census data show that black and Hispanic college students commuters and those in dorms far outnumber black and Hispanic prison inmates.

Nevertheless, civil rights advocates said it is startling that blacks and Hispanics are more likely to live in prison cells than in college dorms.

*jr, the truth is, white Americans never abandoned racism, segregation, discrimination, etc. Those have evolved to new forms of racism, segregation, discrimination, etc.

I believe it's mostly due to Lack of Opportunity. Offering more financial aid on college level education, decent paying jobs and more money invested in inner-city schools can prevent people from wanting to risk prison.

I believe its more than that coz opportunity is created by those that have direction and the determination to go along with it.

Black are mostly lost ,we cannot see the forest and are thus made hopeless by the futility of self cancelling actions .

Very important values for all ages that can catapult all mankind not just blacks are eroded away by the idea of survival for the fittest.

Everybody is made to believe that they need to survive by whatever means not knowing that it is the means that are infact as important to survival if not more.

Truthfulness ,honesty ,good will ,willingness to work and prayer (humility infront of GOD) are infact the very pillars that hold society together in my oppinion.
