Kismayu leaders Condemn BBC Somali Services.

The politicians of southern Somali Port town of Kismayu have condemned the management of BBC Somali services for Nepotism and isolating the City in the duty of broadcasting the events of the war ravaged Somalia .
In a joint Press release the Government officials and traditional Leaders in Kismayu showed their concern over how the BBC Somali Service rejected to establish it’s own stinger in Kismayu, a home of nearly half million residents and Somalia’s third largest City.
“ we are very dismayed that the BBC have isolated our region because of tribalism, this is Somalia’s richest Region, and experiences different crisis, why does the BBC ignores this area” Said Mohamed Hassan Gamodhere the acting mayor of Kismayu who was speaking in a ceremony held for the formation of regional Journalist’s Association that have Joined the National Organization ASOJ.
The Mayor called the BBC Somali service Management to build a good relation with the residents of jubbaland and a form a correspondent to convey the world what is going in the regions.
Kismayo is resided by some of Somalia ’s professional journalists who work with Somali Radios, Tvs and International News Agencies, the journalists lost their faith in BBC Somali Services as Somali Clan affects the formation of Kismayu BBC Stringer.
The vice governor of lower juba region where Kismayu is the Headquarter indicated the Management Of BBC Somali Services a group that declared the isolation of the inhabitants of Kismayu.
“ they made their Correspondents in Baidoa, Jawhar and Garowe which are less populated then Kismayu, we can see this as discrimination” Said Ahmed Abdi Omar.
The Joint Statement by the intellectuals and politicians was released late Saturday when Most of Kismayu Journalist’s elected The Female Journalists Laylo Sheikh Aaden As their Leader in a bid to strengthen the unity and awareness among the Journalists.
“The leadership of female Journalist is a new approach to the Media Development, and I support her role as a chairman” said the Director of Hornafrik Branch in Kismayu.
The Regional Organization Named as WAJ joined the Associated Somali Journalists ASOJ and is due to implement a capacity building projects financed by ASOJ.
