Very long. Possibly never. Funny thing is that all cities with major airports have paved runways, I've seen a fleet, like 20 road paving tractors in photos during the building of Conoco airport in Garowe -- so they have the material.

Its all about using it on the streets. Who knows, maybe some Somali leaders are preparing such endeavors, but in the near future, we will be the only people on Earth without a single city with paved roads. Very Happy

Strange thing is that there's one big road that goes through every city in Somalia, check google earth and you'll see. Those are the only paved roads in every city. They've stood the test of time without maintenance, taking dust without much impact, and so forth.

Those are the roads built by the Chinese. When the Chinese would build, the Somalis would steal the construction material. Sometimes not even out of necessity, it was just the nature of the Somali people to loot, as chronicled in the book Futuh Al Habesh when they looted the cities they conquered with Ahmed Gurey.

Long story short, they are cursed and doomed. Even the Chinese could not help them. So if we can't help ourselves, which we won't -- we're focked. Very Happy
