James,
Excellent map.
Don't mind the critics and keep a good job up.
Do u have the Galmudug map in wikipedia ? If not, could you make one with it prominent and blacking out the rest of the nation.

Re: Revised Map, now with zones of limited control
I am sorry James
read these two articles the first one shows Somaliland military movements in Sanaag. And the second one the authority Somaliland has as far as Taleex
right now Somaliland military is 23 km away from Garowe wich means exactly on the borderline and also conductin operations inside Nugaal 42 km north of Garowe .
SL is in Shimbiraale thats the borderline between us and the Maakhir .
http://www.somalilandtimes.net/sl/2007/294/90.shtml
http://www.somalilandtimes.net/sl/2007/291/201.shtml
Midhisho is grazing areas and farmland
your borderline is giving too much away to Maakhir .
Plus Jidali is part of Somaliland
And whats with " Maakhir " having a border to East Ceerigaabo , what is the proof that warsangeli reside in east ceerigaabo . Beside Hargeisa has the authority in Ceerigaabo not warsangelis they have nothing to say today eversince they were evicted with force in the 90s and the fall of Siad Barre
And for you marking parts of Sool with a different color its not correct.
Did the US have different colors for Minnesota and Texas in 1867 after the civil war ? NO
either you take the news of Somaliland positions in Sanaag to notion or I might not rely on your maps man even though they look fantastic.
PS Midhishi is straight forward east of Ceerigaabo not north of Ceerigaabo like your map shows.
same with Jidali

Re: Revised Map, now with zones of limited control
The darker shades represent areas that are tenuously connected to the states in question. Maakhir's southwest corner for instance has a connection with the state, along with many "Maakhirians", but most people here have not fully bought into the Maakhir concept, at least not yet.
Galgadud, east Hiraan, Mogadishu, and the Middle Shabelle coast are technically under government control, and the odd government or Ethiopian patrol drives through here, but that's about it.
Same with Gedo, Lower and Middle Juba.
Galmudug's southernmost region around Harardhere is rather outside the orbit of Galmudug, as the authority has barely reached out as far as Hobyo. Clan differences also mean that this region has the least connection. The Darod clans along the border with Ethiopia are similarly disinterested in Galmudug.
Speaking of which, Galmudug is a fine name but it should really stand for Galinsoor and Mudug, not Galgadud and Mudug. The only part of Galgadud that Galmudug controls is Galinsoor.

Re: Revised Map, now with zones of limited control
Nice map, but can you make a map with all the regions without having the federal government crab on it.... There is no government sxb so i dont know why you keep on adding it on all your maps.... Pretty much every region in Somalia has its own administratiion even though they may not have declare it yet....

James,
Regarding the darkening in part of Galmudug? ..How did you come to those conclutions.. When you have marked the most peaceful lands as Zones of Limited Control.?
