Iran has signed a deal with China to buy two squadrons of J-10 fighter planes that are based on Israeli technology, the Russian news agency Novosti reported Tuesday.

The 24 aircraft are based on technology and components provided to China by Israel following the cancellation of the Lavi project in the mid-1980s. The engines of the J-10 are Russian-made.

The total cost of the planes is estimated at $1 billion, and deliveries are expected between 2008 and 2010.


The estimated operational range of the aircraft, with external fuel tanks, is 3,000 kilometers, which means Israel falls within their radius of operation.

During the 1980s, Israel Aircraft Industries, along with U.S. firms, developed a multi-role aircraft that was considered the most advanced of its type at the time.

It is not an old technology, it has been upgraded by both the Rassians and the Chinese.

it's not 20 yr old technology, actually it's pretty state of the art & modern since many countries in Asia are going to be using them.

besides, it's not like the Iranians can just buy the latest Lockheed jet anyways.

Iran will do reverse engineering on them .. just like the previous russian and chinese milliary hardware they perchased in past.

So let wait for Iran's release their version of this fighter jet naming it "BaktAsh (T) 983"

Persians have always proven to be more savy than the Arabs. Iran is alone in the world, because they are the only Shia country and the only Persian speaking country in the region, yet they are able to stand on their two feet and make America go in to hysterics every now & then.

Its incredible that even though the Arabs have undergo massive transformations under Islam, their nomadic culture has never completely disappeared. It took the Prophet (saw) years of hard-work to even unite some of the clans of Arabia, then it took centuries for Arabs to see enlightenment and evolve, but they have gone back in time, making all those centuries of civilized accomplishments futile.

Allah gave Islam to the Arabs but if they turn away from practicing it 100% then Allah will humiliate them especially. Umar ibn AlKhattab understood this......look at this short story and his statement about what would happen to the Arabs if they abandon Islamic principles:


During his caliphate, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (r.a.) was marching upon Damascus with his army. Abu 'Ubaydah ibn Jarrah was with him. They came upon a little lake. Hadrat 'Umar descended from his camel, took off his shoes, tied them together, and hung them on his shoulder. He took the halter of his camel and together they entered the water. Seeing this happening in front of the army, Abu 'Ubaydah said, "O commander of the faithful, how can you be so humble in front of all your men?"

Hadrat 'Umar answered, "Woe, Abu 'Ubaydah, if anyone else other than yourself thinks this way! Thoughts like this will cause the downfall of the Muslims. Don't you see? We were indeed a very lowly people. Allah raised us to honor and greatness through Islam. If we forget who we are and wish other than Islam, which elevated us, the One who raised us surely will debase us."

When a Muslim abandons Allah, Allah will abandon him, most Muslims living today have thrown their religion behind their backs, that is why there is so much suffering going on in the Muslim world. Umar Bin Khattab (ra) was a very wise man and his predictions have become a reality for the most part. Putin warns against new Iran sanctions

LISBON, Portugal - Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Thursday against new international sanctions against Iran, saying they would lead to a dead end.

"Why worsen the situation by threatening sanctions and bring it to a dead end?" Putin said in a veiled reference to the U.S. push for harsher international sanctions against Tehran.

"It's not the best way to resolve the situation by running around like a madman with a razor blade in his hand."

Putin said the standoff around Iran's nuclear program needs to be resolved through talks, pointing at North Korea as an example.

"Not long ago it didn't seem possible to resolve the situation with North Korea peacefully" but the dispute has been solved, he said.

the J-10 is actually pretty good.

but unfortunatly whats more important these days is the avionics and associated Electronic warfare capabilties.

if iran can get the latest western european avionics into those jets,
and if they have the training, they can go head to head with isrealis one on one.



the tech is not that important its the pilot.
Saudia has F-15's and has had them for years,
but the Saudi airforce would be outclassed by the Jordanians or the Egyptians flying F-16's
