The Islamic History of Europe video documentary Rageh omar.
Rageh Omaar uncovers the hidden story of Europe's Islamic past and looks back to a golden age when European civilisation was enriched by Islamic learning. Rageh travels across medieval Muslim Europe to reveal the vibrant civilisation that Muslims brought to the West. This evocative film brings to life a time when emirs and caliphs dominated Spain and Sicily and Islamic scholarship swept into the major cities of Europe. His journey reveals the debt owed to Islam for its vital contribution to the European Renaissance.

Good vid, never seen it before.
The Muslim powers had 3 chances to take over Europe, and they failed 3 times; first in Tours against France, then in Toledo against the Spanish, and once more in Vienna against a united European alliance. Muslims in medieval times were very light-hearted and never had the ambition and drive of Europeans, maybe this new breed is different.

the best chance we had was Tours, imagine we won and took over france, BTW the place "tours" is 170 km away from London
Spain was difficult cos u had the spanish back up by the french, muslims were heavily divided and every1 considered themselves a khalifah...no unity = failure
Vienna was a great chance but the ottomans, somehow couldnt win. This reminded me of a joke by shiekh hamza yusuf, while he was talking to a non muslim crowd in california he said "the turks are not the enemy banging on the gates of vienna, you know..the turk is your doctor!"

Re: The Islamic History of Europe video documentary Rageh omar.
I think Spain was the best chance. Europe was deep in the Medieval ages and the Moors were parked in Iberia for FOUR CENTURIES. I can't believe they squandered it.
During the battle of Tours, Islam was less than two centuries old, I still can't believe how much power the religion had in terms of military power. Up to that point, the Ummayad Caliphate had the largest army in history, but its tough to discount the French, who I believe are the toughest fighters in Europe, and they proved so by producing characters such as Charlemagne, Charles Martel, and Napoleon Bonaparte, enough respect to the French.
In Vienna, the Ottomans were having a cake walk, until all of Europe jumped into the fight, then it was game over.

The Ummayads only knew conquests to keep revenue flowing in. Thats how they survived in the Middle East and the same method was used when they got to Iberia and tried to go beyond
but their armies weren't even that big
had they won the Battle of Tours, every white person you see right now would be a Muslim
