Why Does AbdiWahab Love General Caydiid (AUN)
My admiration for the late General Caydiid (AUN) was based on a promise that he made in November 1989 to my father who lost 3 brothers, 10 nephews and dozens more of his relatives to the Somali National Army who massacred hundreds of Sacad men, women and children in a span of a few days. These civilians had done nothing to deserve being massacred by the Somali National Army under the Marexan officer, Dhagabecyr, and supported by Majeerten, Leelkase and other Darood soldiers:
After the killing of over 450 civilians in July,1989 in Mogadishu, The Somali Government troops (the 54th, 21st, 60th and 77th military sectors) subsequently under took massive reprisals against civilians living in Lower Mudug.
Troops massacred about hundred civilians, including women and children, and confiscated most of their livestock. The towns and villages affected include Dagaari, Saddax-Higle, Bandiiradley, Adley, Galinsor, Wargalo, Docol, Gowlalo, Halimo, Go'ondalay and Galkacyo town.
The government troops first shelled the town of Galkacyo on November 26, destroyed part of the city of Galkacyo and conducted house to house searches and looting whatever valuable they could find. Of course, not all civilians were able to flee, particularly elderly men and women and a great number of mothers with young children, many who were killed.
The Late General Caydiid (AUN) promised to ensure that Afweyne would never repeat his murderous campaign against us ever again. The noble , dear leader quit his post as Ambassador to India and joined the USC armed forces. He joined the USC way before the other Hawiye Generals, some who were antiUSC until the USC came close to Xamar.
In a matter of 18 months, General Caydiid (AUN) overthrew the Afweyne regime and sent him packing once and for all. He did this for the victims of Afweyne all over Somalia.
For that I will always admire and respect General Caydiid for keeping his promise to ensure Afweyne would feel the pain of his (Afweyne) victims: being displaced from his home, living in qaxootinimo, running for his own life.

Wallahi I don't understand why people are puzzled as to why I have such great admiration for the late, great Aidid. He's the only political leader on Somalinet that I haven't mocked, I absolutely adore him and his final message.
In 1979 when the communist regime became a menace to the northeastern Somalis, they took the fight to the tyrant who had marginalized them; but after a decade, they caved in to the pressure, mainly caused by traitors within their own people like General Morgan--but a cowardly act nonetheless.
In 1982, after sitting blindly for over a decade to their own political, military, and economic marginalization--and that of the northeastern group, the northwestern Somalis fought back, but only with the intention to leave the other victims behind instead of joining in arms--and forming their own state.
In 1989, after extreme hostility towards the central Somalis, and over a decade of marginalization of their political status and their home regions--by "the tyrant"--they also fought back. They fought and crushed the tyrant's army, ending his reign. All this, with the direction of Mohamed Farah Aidid.
I have absolute respect, love, and admiration for General Aidid, a hero for the ages.

what defined Aideeds real character wasn't his victory against Siyad Barre, but how he managed the aftermath.
he squandered a golden oppurtunity, as he was blinded by his hate for Daarood to take advantage of that chance to enter the history books.
today we see his colleague A/Y write his own chapter on the Somali political history, lets see where gets of the bus.

A/Y though has to rely on Ethiopian battle tanks
no one can deny the USC had a mass arsenal of weapons of men, when they were united at their climax

AbdiWahab252, I didn't know the Somali National Army was involved in unprovoked massacres of innocent civilians. During the late 80's, when the qafaal used to scare young men, I was aware of the Army's operations in the North. May your relatives rest in peace, aamiin.

Re: Why Does AbdiWahab Love General Caydiid (AUN)
there were large scale clean up operations in the Goballada dhexe led by Gen Morgan and Dhagabaceyr. these operations started as security partols to clear USC checkpoints from G/kacyo to Mog, but had later deteriorated into massacre raids against unsuspecting villages.
there were reports of suffocating prisoners in water tankers.
it was an abominable act which ought to be condemned.
