Mogadishu Shell Shocked: A good read
Following the establishment of Ethiopian and TFG troops in Mogadishu in January
2007, residents of Mogadishu witnessed a steady spiral of attacks by insurgent
forces aimed at Ethiopian and TFG military forces and TFG officials. Increasingly,
Ethiopian forces launched mortars, rockets, and artillery fire in response. A failed
March 21 and 22 disarmament operation by the TFG resulted in the capture of TFG
troops and—in scenes evocative of the deaths of US soldiers in 1993—the mutilation
of their bodies in Mogadishu’s streets.
In late March Ethiopian forces launched their first offensive to capture Mogadishu’s
stadium and other locations, which met with resistance from a widening coalition of
insurgent groups. Ethiopian forces used sustained rocket bombardment and shelling
of entire neighborhoods as their main strategy to dislodge the mobile insurgency
and then occupy strategic locations. Hundreds of civilians died trying to flee or while
trapped in their homes as the rockets and shells landed. Tens of thousands of
people fled the city.
Four days of intense bombardment and fighting was ended by a brief ceasefire
negotiated by the Ethiopian military and Hawiye clan elders. The ceasefire faltered and
then broke in late April, when Ethiopian forces launched their second major offensive
to capture additional areas of north Mogadishu. Again, heavy shelling and rocket
barrages were used against insurgents in densely populated civilian neighborhoods.
Hundreds more people died or were wounded. On April 26 the TFG, which played a
nominal role supporting the Ethiopian military campaign, declared victory. Within days,
insurgent attacks resumed, increasingly based on targeting Ethiopian and TFG forces with remote-controlled explosive devices.

Lugh,
Northeastern are known for their faan with no basis.
This is solely between us and Ethiopians. Their cheerleaders are in no place to play a role in this conflict besides on the side-lines cheerleading for Ethiopian team.
2007 is engraved in our memory, we'll return the favor insha allah.
''On April 26 the TFG, which played a

Nominal = chearleading, and claiming power which is not yours.

Mogadishu 01, Nov. 07 ( Sh.M.Network)- Dagaal xoogan oo u dhaxeeya ciidamada Etthiopia iyo xoogagga ka soo horjeeda ayaa caawa maqribkii ka qarxay xeradii Maslaxa ee duleedka suuqa xoolaha ee degmada Heliwaa ee magaalada Muqdisho.
Sida ay ku warameen dadka deegaanka, Dagaalkaan oo la isku adeegsanayo hubka nuucyadiisa kala duwan ayaa waxa uu bilowday abaaro 6:30 PM salaadii maqrib ka dib, iyadoo ilaa iyo haatan uu soconayo.
http://shabelle.net/2007/november/n13662.htm
To this day, brave men are fighting the Ethiopians.
I have deep respect for these restless men who are fighting till the Ethiopians run away from Somalia.
In this displaying the two finest Somali traits: Bravery and Unyielding to anyone.

Re: Mogadishu Shell Shocked: A good read
The MJ militia in Mogadishu is protecting the president and only have enough troops to secure one square mile and additional troops to actually move the entire contingent from one location to the other safely.
AY's MJ militia in Mogadishu is not in a position to fight the insurgency, especially when it involves urban warfare in enemy terrain. They're merely securing the Villa Somalia area and guarding the central prison.
Needless to say, the bulk of the Puntland militia and his top lieutenants during his reign there have all been whisked away from Puntland and dumped in Mog. This is the best time for Somaliland to strike at Puntland once and for all.
To some posters:
Hit and run tactics, whilst leaving innocent people to suffer at the hands of the Ethiopians after using their neighbourhoods as temporary bases is true bravery. Bravery indeed.
AW252,
Stop flattering us mate.

Starscream,
I will have to agree with you there. Some of the tactics employed are really dumb like firing from a residential neighborhood knowing fully well that the Tigray will just wheel their tanks around and flattent that whole neighborhood, but the person might not care because by that time the attacker is already gone, but a lady just lost her home and her entire family has just been killed. I'm also not a fan of IED's in busy, busling places because you might kill an Oromo or two. I'm also not a big fan of suicide bombings. I would advocate more pinpoint, nightime direct commando type operations where the shacab are not put in harms way.

This is thing that still baffles me. how dump and stupid can u be be throwing a grenade and runining away knowing that ethopian will just shell ur homes and not care which home to hit. Walaahi these so called somali freedom fighters have the dumpest strategy i have ever heard of in my life. why dont they tell the families all to leave and than they face the Tigree one on one.

Re: Mogadishu Shell Shocked: A good read
Actually the brave men in Mogadishu pinpoint the enemy...it is the enemy who shoots in every direction after been attacked.
If the situation is like that, what are the fighters of Mogadishu supposed to do? Not target the enemy, because the enemy will kill innocent people? Isn't that accepting the occupation? The easy way out=the cowards way.
In Ogadeniya too, the ONLF targets the Ethiopian military bases, in response the Ethiopians wipe out entire villages. Is ONLF doing a bad thing? Should they stop fighting the Ethiopians just because the Ethiopians wipe out entire villages?
This is a known tactic in warfare. All warfare is about breaking the will of your opponent to continue fighting.
EThiopians think by destroying entire villages or city sections they can break the will of ONLF and Mogadishu fighters respectively?
Our will cannot be broken, and their actions only convince the world and our own people how bitter an occupation can be, and how ruthless the enemy is.
Insha allah, we'll prevail.

Re: Mogadishu Shell Shocked: A good read
Mogadishu 02, Nov. 07 ( Sh.M.Network)- 6 ruux oo 5 ka mid ah ay yihiin ciidamada Ethiopia sida la sheegay ayaa ku geeriyooday iska horimaadyo saacado socday oo maanta ku dhex maray ciidamada Ethiopia iyo xoogagga ka soo horjeeda wadooyinka 30 ka iyo warshadaha ee magaalada Muqdisho.
Iska horimaadyadaan oo bilowday saakay ayaa waxa ay yimaadeen ka dib markii ciidamada Ethioipia ay saakay soo galeen xaafado ka mid ah degmooyinka Hodon, H/wadaag , Warshiigleey iyo yaaqshiid, halkaasi oo ay kala kulmeen iska caabin xoogan oo kaga timid kooxaha ka soo horjeeda dowladda.
-----
Around 6 killed, with 5 been Ethiopian.
As we said, the fighters in Mogadishu pinpoint the enemy, but it is the enemy that shoots at anyone out of cowardice.
These days, there are not many people left to shoot at, so the casualties are almost entirely Ethiopians.
A great day for the restless fighters of Mogadishu.

May peace reign
May love rule our hearts
May we all learn to live with one another in peace
And may ALLHA forgive all our sins and lift us from this bottomless pit againts which our own ability has proven inadequate ........shamefully.
But ALLAH warned us already that we are weaklings and humility is in reality the sea in which we must all swim to get to where we are going . Those that have been left perplexed as to where we ought to head ....all you have to do is look into your hearts and submit to the will of ALLAH. ALLAH IS TRULY ABLE.
LET US HAVE IIMAAN. AAMIIN
ILAHOW NO NAXARIISO ADIGAA AWOOD BADANE...AMIIN.
