MAC, Ethiopians firing into civilian neighborhoods in retaliation is hardly the natural thing to do, and in fact is a war crime. Armed resistance is not a war crime. The insurgents aren't shooting at the civilians.

The accusations that the insurgency is "using the civilians as shields" is bullshit, if anything, the Ethiopian forces are using the civilians as hostages, ie "don't try anything or this neighborhood gets it!".

Actually, the insurgents are detonating IEDs and other explosives indiscrimately in civilian neighborhoods, killing civilians. But yes, armed resistance IS a war crime. Combat by non-uniformed members is a war crime. Using a civilian population for sanctuary is a war crime.
