I have talked to Prof. Jimale about two weeks ago, and i wish him all the best. I doubt there is any Somali who is more intelectual then him. Plus he is a Warsengali so there goes the neighborhood!

Sxb did he tell you what his political stance is on any issue or would he be just like Gedi? I know everything will come from the president Zenawi but what would he do differently for the people of Xamar?

The funny thing is that the guy was extremly against the Ghedi adminstration. at a conference in columbus ohio attended by somali "intelectual" he famously proclaimed that, " i am a warsengali abgaal and Ghedi is my kin, but you can't imagine how much i hate for inviting the ethiopians to my country." I would try to find t he video of it for you. also, the guy is very well versed in politics and he has written numerous books about somali politics. some of his speeches are highly seductive! I don't know why he changed his mind and joined the government. i would believe that being a respected at CUNY helps, and that the state department pushed him to take the role, also the americans were the ones who made Ghedi resign. I would imagine that he would come with better wisdom and understanding of the political reality of the region. I wouldn't be surprised if he gives the middle to abdullahi yusuf too soon
