Somali Crisis in West: Hoes, Felons, Deadbeat Dads/Moms
Some people have made threads about this before, but what are the main ways to combat the breakdown of the Somali family in the West?
Are there community centers in large community weddings?
I think if families pooled together, make an ayuuto or something and help to get the youth married early on via social networking, community centers, women circles then that would help to mature the youth faster.
Perhaps until the kids finish college or can support themselves maybe they can live in the basement or something like I've seen with Pakistani familes.
If they did get married earlier, there would be less crisis, less drama, less uncontrolled kacsi, and there would be more responsibility placed on the boy to provide for his family since he's not iscaabalo anymore.
The Pakistani/Indian community are one of the most financially successful communities in America w/ the average family income being over $80k. Man they even advertise their boys/girls in community magazines looking for eligible suitors.
What do you think are the pros/cons of this?

Re: Somali Crisis in West: Hoes, Felons, Deadbeat Dads/Moms
yeah they could build a small caqal next to the main house
Re: Somali Crisis in West: Hoes, Felons, Deadbeat Dads/Moms
It is a good idea but there are few things:
1 Somali familes dont have the patient & respect to live together. The mother in law and wife wont get along!
2 family set up in the US is different from family setup in Europe so again there are things that will make it difficult.
3 Marrying people while still young is a good way to make them responsible but again you might end up with broken familes leading to single mothers.
We need to understand the importance of family as unit both from islamic teaching and from a financial side of things. Stable families will lead to responsible kids who will them be high achievers and the circle continues.
Most somalis live in black neighbourhoods and tend to pick up some really bad attitude towards life as compared to familes who live in good neighbourhoods where people work hard and live good!

you describtion of a qawiil loving somali traditional dude who neglects his family and children in pursuit of qawiil identity pride is good. start a sade school for male parenthood. men like dawladsade, sadeboi, warlordsade, pimpsade, madsade and sadesade will benefit.

GedoBoy,
The Indians have GUURDON conventions where families present their daughters and sons to prospects. Resumes are exchanged and mini-interviews are conducted.
My Indian exgirlfriend told me about the one her parents took her to.

GB
The word marrying early caught my attention and reminded of my little cousin.
He was what Somalis call Fayakooni, uncontrollable trouble maker, his mom decided to get him married and taste a little responsibility. I was one of the ppl arranging and hosting the wedding, as I was busy serving the guests and going from one group to the next making sure that they are all taken care, I came into this room to relax for a little bit, gues what I found in there.
The little fukkhead (groom) with his boys smoking weed!!!!!!! talking about if they could with him tonight!!! meaning if he would allow them to fukk his bride with him tonight
Btw, she has two kids now and still miserable, cause he never stopped hanging with his boyz and his mom provides for his family

Sir Lug,
yeah there's bound to be failures and mistakes there can't be 100% success rate. I have seen that too.
But I think he's the exception rather than the rule.
Many youth just have a severe case of kacsi frustration which encourages female hoeism and male delinquency.

GedoBoy,
U seem to believe marriage will solve all these problems. All I know if I got married at an early age, say 22-23:
1. Would never have advanced as far in my education
2. Never been satisfied with her because I would have felt I settled too early instead of sowing my royal oats.
3. At 22, I did not know the difference between a girlfriend and a wife.
4. My friends would have all been single and I would be the married dude which would lead to some shenanigans

Re: Somali Crisis in West: Hoes, Felons, Deadbeat Dads/Moms
Aw252,
I'm not saying it's the All in One solution but it's a better alternative and will have a higher rate of success than not doing it.
Individual cases vary, but I am talking about the whole trend.
When kids get caught up w/ girlfriend/boyfriend and all the drama associated with it, they lose out more.
Saying that you wanna put off marriage b/c you "wanna finish school" is not really working b/c like muktaar said: "As far as I'm concerned they're studying Hoeism 101"
The guys are even worse b/c they're lucky if they make it past high school.
