1 million people, how do you feel?

Post by sadeboi »

Quick question to the supporters of the war in Muqdisho. What achievement has come out of this? How can one take pride in whats going in Muqdisho as victory, as if anything was gained other then Somalia being labeled as the #1 humanitarian crisis in Africa surpassing DARFUR? When I watched "Darfur Now" I was so appalled and sadden by whats going on there so how can we really just watch whats going on in our own country and look at it as a loss of one clan and victory of another. I do not support any entity, and I am far from supporting maxkamad/asmara camp/shabab and what not, my point is not a political one I am just thinking of those helpless masaakiin mothers, kids, grandparents, the sick, the crippled, and psychological affected humans and if any of you do not feel remorse just think of your loved ones in those situations.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VATICAN CITY (AFP) - Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday deplored the humanitarian crisis in Somalia where at least one million people have fled violence, and urged global intervention to help end the fighting.

"The sad news comes to us on the subject of the fragility of the humanitarian situation in Somalia, especially in Mogadishu, still the most affected by insecurity and poverty," the pope said at his weekly general audience at the Vatican.

"I am anxiously following developments and I call on those who have political responsibilities on the local and international levels to seek peaceful solutions that can bring relief to these people," he added.

"I encourage the efforts of those who, despite the insecurity and difficulties, stay in this region to bring aid and relief to the inhabitants," the pontiff said.

Some 600,000 people have fled the war-wracked Somali capital since February, bringing the total number of people displaced inside the country to a "staggering one million," the UN refugee agency said Tuesday.

Is this a quick question to the supporters of the resistance.....or to the supporters of the Ethiopian occupation?

For the resistance, this is exactly why we are fighting the Ethiopian occupation which only wants to destroy the people of Mogadishu, the economy of Mogadishu and the patriotic spirit of Mogadishu people.

This is just a guerilla war against an occupying force, which after every clash resorts to massacre of civilians.

I feel sorry for the people in Ogaden region who do not get the same media coverage as Mogadishu people, although we are engaged in the same struggle and our peoples are in the same humanitarian crisis.

Justice will eventually prevail.

Some one claimed Xamar was in chaos for 17 years and brought Ethiopians just to make things hundred times worse.

Long live ICU.

It's quite sad but Mogadishu is and has been the Somali problem fo the last 18 years I am glad we are dealing with Mogadishu!!!

The Hawiye community and leadership as well as the resistance have killed all other alternatives with dealing with Mogadishu. This is the choice they left behind when they ran and told the little boys to continue the resistance.

I want to go back to Mogadishu 2008-2009 I need peace. What ever makes that happen is what I am for.

Even when it means 1000s of more deaths and 100.000s more displaced people? Where's the logic? Some people have lost their moral compass.

They don't take me seriously sxb. If you don't agree, you're a novice to them who has much to learn, naive because you're a hawiye-lover. A shame to the Majeerteen name.

I got used to it.

The one thing I don't understand is this: Why don't the fighters LEAVE the city, go into the wilderness and beisege the Ethiopians in the capitol? Attack their convoys, bases, choke of their supplies etc. This is the brilliant strategy the ONLF employs and thats why their resistance is so effective, as they sometmes kill columns of Eithos at a time. Fighting INSIDE the city is disasterous for the civilian population, and ultimately not that effective as opposed to the other method. I really think the resistance needs to change their method to this, because the civilians are going through hell.
