Map of Likely Oil in Puntland, Sool and Maakhir

Post by James Dahl »

Geologically speaking, there is almost guaranteed to be oil here somewhere, the trick of course is finding it. These structures were once part of the same rock structures in Yemen that today are oil producing, and broke away when Africa and Asia seperated a few million years ago.

Note how the capital cities of Maakhir, Puntland AND Sool all sit on oil deposits, also note the oil structure in Somaliland, which stretches along the coast from Bosaso to Mait.

Why are you guys fighting, you should be drilling for black gold in your backyard!

I don't know how much oil Yemen is producing but they're still poor as hell.

Besides, with the corruption in Somalia I doubt the general public would see any benefit of oil in the near future. As long as the situation is the way it is, there is nothing that even oil can do.

Nigeria is OIL RICH and look @ how they live.

If good governance doesn't come before oil then oil won't come ANYYWAYS.

Who wants to invest in a basketcase of a country?

Puntland Canmex Map

Somaliland Times map of Western oil blocks
Block 27 northwest of Erigavo and two A10 blocks offshore of Berbera missing
http://img98.imageshack.us/my.php?image=blocksrd6.jpg
-----------------------------------------------------------
Somaliland in the north has various deposits including industrial salt, zinc, iron, coal, granite and uranium. Some of the world's largest gypsum reserves are found near Berbera [some sources believe they are the worlds largest*. There are also large deposits of pure limestone, which have provided feedstock for cement production near Berbera. But oil exploration so far has yielded no conclusive results. Total ELF France already have a long therm year contract with Somaliland for the terminal at Berbera . http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/8467/dfshfhddj0.jpg
It could become a major traffic hub more than 12 000 ships pass the area every year (!) plus Berbera is the only deepwater port of Somaliland.
Previous Oil drills where the results are hidden or lost according to Chevron and Conoco. Chevron drilled a well 4,5 miles east of Saylac and 33 miles south of there . See Google earth Map

Conoco drilled Nogal 1, 50 km north of Las Anod
------------------------------------------------------
http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/4673/fhjgjwe4.jpg

What really surprised me is the audacity and cleverness of SNM even at that time Shocked Do you see how deep Saylac block is inside Awdal wich is Issa /Gaadabguursi land , Conoco had to hold communication with SNM because they feared what could happen. It's locaed 4,5 miles east of Saylac than 33 miles south og Saylac , next drill was to be implemented in Lughaya further east.
Already in 1988 they left Ceerigaabo field .
But the SNM maintained positive and urged them to continue the drilling as they forsaw the results would be in their hands when they conquered the land.
And its proven once in for all that SNM was keeping majority of SNA busy in North I have proofs not USC fighting in Muqdhisho .
It was SNM who was the strongest , they even supplied the final logisitics to USC so they could overrun the weak goverment in Muqdhisho at the end.

If someone could help me find a source where Hunt Oil was very active outside Berbera I would be very thankful.
I once read they struck big time ( 38 billion barrels )
but they all had to leave because of unrest at that particular time not civil war but it was the final drop.
And data is kept hidden.

However the article is on Google
--------------------------------------
PS Yemen has approximately 4 billion barrels in reserve and produce around 500 000 daily. Saudi Arabia has 260 billion barrels
UAE has around 9 billion barrels .

Bari region is believed to have 20 billion barrels according to Range Rescources
Berbera offshore somwhere between 20 - 38 billion barrels.
The rest unknown.
And yes nothing is confirmed.

where did you hear these outragous figures?

20, 38 billion barrels

no one will leave that amount of oil alone, we would have been invaded,
and administered by the UN as a colony, while the oil companies get thier cut

if there is any chance that that figure is true,

that means 1million barrells per day for 100 years

at current prices, $90 million per day about 26 billiob dollars a year

I've also heard huge oil deposits that could have been yemeni today have " slid under the somali ground what is today Saaxil and continues to north of Maroodi Jeex thus millions of years ago.
South Maroodijeex share similar data as the ethiopian when it comes to gas .
according to these two men
Eng. Abdulkadir Abiikar Hussein, MSc.; FGS (Engineering Geologist)
Eng. Abdulkadir Abiikar (Former researcher and lecturer in the King Fahd

Hunt Oil did INDEED cross over to Somaliland water territorials in 1998 to follow the geological structure of Yemen.
Wallahi I found this just now

http://www.ruunki.org.uk/ruunki_ruudi_a ... e_oil.html
But its some pseudo website not the original stating 38 billion barrels found by Hunt Oil *

now link my rumor to the found
why did Hunt Oil persue crossing the " line " over to Somaliland.
maybe because they wondered where all the oil really is ..... ?

Yemen ain't nothing to Somaliland
