i’m talking about 2 – 12 year olds. the majority of Somali kids seem to be suffering from an extreme case of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).. they behave like wild animals, and u have to yell hard @ them to get their attention. whenever I go to places where Somalis bring their children in droves like eid prayers or community events, the parents let em’ loose and they run like wild children and cause havoc even damage properties at times.

is there something wrong with the way Somali children are being parented in the diaspora? I think there is.

my youngest brother, 13, and my other brother who is about to be 15 ALWAYS fight each other EVERYDAY

and by 13 year old brother is the worst of all at home, he runs and jumps everywhere

its annoying and he always gets off easy because he is the youngest

One time this Arab dugsi teacher was teaching Somali kids and he once asked me if there was anything he could do about them.....he was like: "These are not regular kids" he had a look of sheer helplessness on him.

I have thought of this myself.....I was a rare exception I was calm my whole life. When I was a little boy sometimes I would put on my lil jacket and tie and sit with my dad's guests/friends trying to be part of the conversation.

Most somali kids are autistic.

I used to get punished a lot when I was young by hooyo, cause I was a stupid kid

Back home children were not like this. If you discipline your child here in the west it's called child abuse.

All 2-12 year olds are hyper active because that’s what they are. 2-12 year olds. They are growing like weeds and learning knew skills everyday and need to express themselves.

However there is a time and place for everything. If these kids are mis behaving at inappropriate times, such as religious functions, at restaurants, in stores then I have only one sure fire solutions. Whoop their little azzes. Seriously. By the time I was four years old all my mom had to do was give me a look and I settled down because I knew if I didn’t we were going to take a little trip to the ladies room to straiten me out.

I think our kids are messed up because of bad parenting. horte lets not even talk about how faraxs are parenting their kids cuz that’s a hot mess I won’t get into right now, but my focus is on mothers. walahi most xalimoz give up and act like the kids won over them. 2 of my female cousins who are my age got married very early and now have 2 kids each….one of them calls me up all the time complaining about her kids…..qeylo iyo complain bey xilikasta ku jidhaa. Ala ba’ayey, naf iguma jidho… caruurtii baa iwaaleen is all she’ll say. I’m like, woman shut it….and stop complaining about u’re kids. she then says, wait until u have em’ u’ll know exactly the kinda hell I’m in. can u imagine this woman?? I would never complain about my kids. they will be extremely well trained, well groomed and when I say jump, they’ll say how high mommy dearest.

Most kids haven't been introduced to the 'fiilo'

My dad used to have a couple belts in the koomadiino (dresser) and he would call them 'The Evils'

anytime we were too bad we would get it. He lost quite a few macawiises tying us up to spank us but look how I turned out

It's how my brother learned his multiplication tables.

I was the angel kid goody goody but my older brother was the human devil......sometimes my dad would ask the teachers how we were doing and if she complained he would give us this look like: "It's your as$!!!! wait til we get home"
