Zenawi is evil, but he knows how to manipulate Somali's clan divisions to a T. Don't forget he's spent a lot of time in Somalia, and he knows his way around. In Somalia he arms and supports the Issaqs then tells them "You have a right to secure your borders, so go ahead" then he supports Puntland and tells them Lascanood is your city. Then he tells Marexaan "We won't support Majerten to fight against you guys" and then he tells Majerten Kismaayo is your city. Then he splits Hawiye apart and so on. I'm sure he does similar stuff in Ogadenia too. He probably tries to rally all the other tribes that live there (Too many clans live there to count) against miskin Ogadeenis. You know the funny thing? The stuff thats going on in Xamar was going on for 4 years in Gedo as the people there were going through hell for years during the Itixaad wars. The tactics are exactly the same, such as sniping the civilians, raping women, burning city centers, looting, etc. Infact 9 of my Abti yaal in Beled Xaawa got killed by Tigray sniper fire. Thes guys are actually extremely cruel people, and the people of Gedo just got a respite the past 2 years, as Tigray are in Xamar of all places today.

Divide and conquer is the name of the game Zenawi is mastering it. Hopefully Somali's will wake up and unite maybe even just for a little bit to kick out the gaalo, like the Greeks did to fight Persia in Ancient times.

I always wanted to know about the Itixaad wars in Gedo but felt it was a touchy subject among the Mareehaans so I just kept quiet and really didn't ask, but I would really love to know about the war and what it all was about if you're cool with it and don't think it'll cause an upheavel.

I know Sade Boi's anti Al-Itihaad and pro SNF but thats about it.
