Simple answer Really. Mac is easier to use and if ur in school comes in very handy and if ur a gamer like me u will actually enjoy it alot. am all about Apple. From Ipod to speakers to my laptop.

Mac is good with anything visual! Videos and all that will look slick.
I find it complex to use.Stick with a PC or just buy a normal laptop!

King of Awdal, I dont know how you play games on a mac. Do you have a Mac Pro or something? Since most macs come with a rather pathetic graphics card that you cant upgrade. I have seen the new range of mac desktops and I was sold. Its just the price tag thats a problem.
Leila, I dont think I will be buying a laptop. I am more into a desktop machine. Beside, I dont know what you find complex in macs, I thought they were supposed to be way way easier to figuire than pcs.

Ben Dover , I have a Mac Pro i bought this past summer before i went to school, actually Mac Graphics is alot stronger and much more powerfull than a regulat PC. I dont know where u got the notion that its weaker, well as i said Graphics and Multimedia is alot better with Mac and also now a dayz u can actually Install windows on Mac if u arent comfortable with Macintosh but as i grew with Mac in school and every where its alot easier for me to use.

King, I see. Mac Pro is a beautiful peace of kit, it rather pricey though so I might be going for the iMac or something.
The Mac Pro and MacBook Pro have good graphics but all the other apple computers whether desktops or laptops have a pretty basic graphics card.
I am seriously looking into buying an apple mac for me new computer..

Ben all u'll hear the never ending battle of Mac is better/PC is better. Personaly I prefer PC for the simple matter of being able to upgrading it software/hardware for the next 5 to 6 yrs. I also move hardware around my pcs, from one to the other. Plus running other OSs like Linux distros on them. Everything seems to be limited for the Mac. At the end of the day it comes down to what u want it do for u.
Awdal what games do u play?

I know, the customisability is a big plus for the PC. It just happens though that they also lose their value pretty quick so no resale points here. I think I will sit on it all until mid january for the apple conference where they might announce new stuff. Then see which deal is better value for me, PC or Mac.
I am not quite sure if I will be doing alot of gaming on my computer since I have a nintendo wii with Mario Galaxy (fantastic platformer) and will also be buying a ps3 as soon as metal gear solid is out. But I am also a sucker for PC strategy games and FPS like CS.
What do yall play?

buy a Mac if you like the Apple OSX or just how Macs do things.
I don't think you can make a case for Mac being a better gaming platform.
Most people who go to the Mac really like it, but things like resale value & gaming platform are not real solid reasons to go to the Mac b/c you won't get a good deal re-selling the Mac anyways....IT's not a big enough investment to consider resale value like cars.
Personally, other than Windows I use Linux/UNIX and spending a lot of $ for a Mac I couldn't really justify.

Ben I hardly play games on PC, I actually haven't played CS since 04. I'm a XBOX fan who is very dissapointed with the 360 and the cheap hardware its made of. I've went through enough system already, and own two right now. Both repaired by Microsoft.lol. I'm actually getting a Wii in couple of wks. Just so I can play Mario Party 8

Mario Party 8 is pretty good if you havent played any of the previous ones. The 360 is pretty hot with games right now, way better than the ps3 but I can just see the ps3 pulling mgs and starting a come back. Whats causing your machines to fail Gatspy? I suspect its the usual three red lights? Do you use a fan to cool the machine down? Where do you keep it? I have a couple of friends whom have had an xbox ordeal with machine heating up. It is nasty wallahi, its good though that microsoft has extended the warranty for this particular problem.
Dont miss out on Metroid Prime Corruption as well btw.
Gedo, actually the Mac Pro is one of the best desktops you can buy today and it would run a game like Crysis effortlessly. I am just looking at the allroundability of the machine. I have never tried an apple product before so I want to see what difference it would make if the software was built for that specific piece of hardware. The stability. I have been a windows user all my life and I think its time for a change. Specially with the new ones being able to have both xp and mac os. The resale factor is important as any PC game loses its value almost instantly while a mac would retain it for years, check ebay for recent apple macs and see how much they're getting sold for.
I have not tried linux before, is it any good?

They all break down in the end so get the cheaper one.
Re: Buying a new computer.. a PC or a Mac??
Ben I've owned all Mario Parties from the time they started making them. 8 is on Wii and for that i'm getting a Wii. lol. With the 360, there is a nightmare called ROD (Rings of Death) its a hardware failure that acures with basically everything thats in it. from the processor to the mem. If ur friends have them heating up, they have no problem sxb. I've had 3 processor failures already but like I said I own two right now so that when one breaks I used the other cause I just can't go on without Halo, Call of Duty, Splinter Cell and Fifa 07,08. lol. The extended warranty means nothing if they're keeping the system for five wks everytime it breaks.
