That guy was in my house one time and had a full conversation with me in af somali, yaab badnaa.

What happened to Hiiraan University? I remember Marexaans holding a big fundraiser for it in Columbus sometime back.

Yea I remember stuff about Hiiraan University but i never knew Marexaans were behind the funding. I used to hear about it through the Somali Student Association at my school. Guess its stalled for some reason. Probably all the insecurity.



Anyway out of curiosity. With all these "Universities" in Somalia and even with the one being planned for Gedo: Who teaches there, do they get paid well and are they qualified? I always wondered how this works.

I don't really know. They are probably planning to depend on volunteers until they can afford to hire their own staff.

The picture is Hadaaftimo, Sanaag. I found it on lasqoray.net where they were advertising the maakhir thing. That region is beautiful.

I really like the educational song like the one in the video and songs from the 70's quite deep in general....I wish they had their own name, so where in gedo will the University be build @?. Anyways I like fundraisers like this one, it makes you feel good that your money is going to a good cause and not weapons. Man there were some good looking gals in that video hadaan joogilahaa waan ku qabanlahaa, now days I am running to mareexaan youths (waliba gabdhaha) like crazy and most reside in Europe (atleast the productive ones) loooool.
