Firstly i'm no qabiliste.

but can anyone tell me about a tribe called gurgure, i believe they are diir.

where they reside?
famous gurgure's
etc

any info (btw this is for a freind)

Gurgure are dir and reside in ogadenia.
they leave in Jigjiga & Shinile zone.

i assumed they were issaq because they seem to be very close with reer somaliland in general

any othe info would be great

they once had Gurgura & Issas liberation front that was clamped down by Meles who ruthlessly masscared them.

their land is being encrouched by Oromos.
they are mostly multilingual as they speak also Oromo language.

Gurgure is Dir (Madahweyn) inhabit the city of Dire Dawa and galinka shanaad ee Ethiopia. Tolweyne Dir is bigger than you can image we are in Djibouti, Somaliland, Galmudug, Ethiopia, Southern somalia and as well in Kenya ...

Do you know that Geledi is not really Digil ... there ar some who argued that Geledi is origin dir what do you say that ?

Never heard of it, but the whole Somali lineage thing is f-ed up. Too confusing. Is Irir and Samaale real or not?

Gurgure is a subclan of DIR, they live in Hargeisa in large numbers and they also settle in Zone 5 Ethiopia..

Gurgure, is a very large tribe...but they reside in Ethiopia..That is why some people think they are small in number..That small number lives in the North that is why they are intermarried with the Isaaqis...One of the most known Gurgure in Somalia are Reer Saalax Yacniile, Reer Macalin Qaasim etc
