One of the main reasons is that new immigrant Somali communities live in the worst areas with public housing, crime, drugs etc.
it's easier to fit in to the ghetto landscape b/c they are black.....and then they are fascinated by the ghetto lifestyle and that's how they get corrupted.
Somali youth pick up from their surroundings.....if they live in the cadaan neighborhoods you will hear them listening to adult alternative music and not sagging their pants :-)

GedoBoy,
I have seen Somali pushers and crackheads. Its sad. But they are a product of their environment, the ghetto.
I wish Khat was legal.

Re: why do our somali boys are affected to drugs
Problem with Somali kids these days, they have nothing to do. Seriously they don't really take school seriously, they go for 6 hours then they are bored out of there minds. They have no school, no job no positive extracurricular activities, so they do dumb stuff to occupy there time i.e sell drugs.
Sometimes I understand that a parent is too busy to keep an eye on a teenager 24/7 but half these kids parents don't even know what there child is doing. Parents need to stay on top of a kid so he doesn't go do bad things like drugs and alcohol.
They need something to keep them out of trouble, make them get a job, stay on top of there school etc...
