Atonement - Right up Basra's alley taking place in an 'enchanting and lovely country Victorian mansion' loool . I liked it....but it's a chick flick 4 sure. It was the longest running movie and I was trying to get HOLLYWOOD to give me my money's worth so I saw it. Not bad.

There Will Be Blood - FANTASTIC as far as I'm concerned and for those interested in a serious plot and serious themed movie.

Watching that movie really helped me see what makes an advanced country an advanced country and how it is always hundreds of years in the making.

I thought about the future of Somalia watching that movie :-)

The only time I truly thought about Somalia's future was during the ICU's brief 6 month rule in Xamar, when all seemed possible.

Koronto91,

What I mean is all the hard work, toil, blood, sweat & tears it takes to build a nation.

I hear you and that's what I am talking about too, the ICU didn't have international support or funds, but the little they had they spent it well. They hired a Kazakh firm to rebuild Mogadishu airport for $3.1 million, spent another $500,000 on the sea port, raised funds to clean up the streets, reconstruct some office buildings. Even renovated the 3 major Masjids. Maybe with more time, they would've achieved more?

P.S. Former Imaam of our Masjid in Atlanta left to join them and was in charge of raising $700,000 for flood victims in 2006.

Koronto91,

I hear what you're saying and you know where I stand too.

For a moment they breathed life & more importantly hope into Somalia.
