How Somalis Can Achieve Success in the West

Note: This is intended for 1st/2nd generation Somalis not the old timers.

The UK, Canada and US are NOT our country. We will never be accepted here and the sooner we realize that, the sooner
we will be more focused about our goals. During our time in the West, we must take advantage of the educational
system that these countries provide. You have to know how the system works and make it work for you. Once you have the
education and the work experience, you must use those skills in building Somalia. The whole reconstruction of
Somalia should always be in our mind. How can you respect a group of people who dont' respect their own country
and have consideration for its future.

In order to stay on this path, we must not be distracted by the host country's ills

1) Practising Muslim - Islam is the only way to keep us discplined and our eyes on the prize - no drinking/clubbing/fornication/gangs
2) Hold on the Somali culture - the language, family unity, values
3) Racism/Discrimination from
Whites and Other Minorities - These people want you to fail, they want you guys to lose hope, drop out and
get a dead end job. You must not let them win and be self-determined.
Becoming a taxi driver when you grew up in the West, is letting the enemies win.



We Somalis have to take care of each other and have our own interests. Our time in the West must be seen as temporary
so that the Somali dream can become a reality. Our fruits of labour will allow our kids/grandkids to be raised in
our home.

fAH123 - Regardless of whether you've seen Somalia or not, you like me and millions of others in the diaspora, have a responsibility to go back. Why would you want to live by the white man's rules when we can live in a country that benefits us. You're black and you're muslim, the two most hated groups in the world. Open up your eyes. You can't just live here and allow for Somalia to be a shit hole for 20 more years. We have to stop being selfish and thinking of ourselves and we must look at the long term advantages. No body is going to take a person who ran away from their country's problems seriously. You will never be respected because of the mess back home. We have a country that no body cares about or loves. We the future must nourish it and bring it back to life.

but Somalia isn't changing

its live by the gun and die by the gun

and people coming from the West arent changing that, especially with qabil and nepotism ruling everything

you cant have a country in that environment and too much blood has been spilled and too much hatred still resonates from 20 years ago till today

Somalis should try hard to get out of the worst neighborhoods they always flock to because of the cheap Govt. prices.

It's cheap in the short run but expensive in future goals b/c you are mortgaging the children's future and risking their involvement in ghetto behaviors.

- Teach them the value of education very early and be actively involved in their mental development.
- Teach them their culture & MOST IMPORTANTLY their Islamic heritage.

do I really need to? Its pretty much self explanatory. Look around and ask yourself this question. How many somalis of 1st and 2nd generation in western nations will realistically go back to Somalia to help in redevelopment?

The problem with that is its easier said than done. To think outside the box, you must want to open up your thought process.
