Looking at Shaq's Monthly Budget
Everybody knows that Shaquille O'Neal earns is paid $20 million a year by the Miami Heat. But where does all that money go? Thanks to his pending divorce, Shaq's monthly budget is now on the public record -- "Extra" has dug up the financial affidavit of the divorce papers (which can be viewed in PDF form here).
Try to wrap your head around these numbers -- on a monthly basis, Shaq spends:
* $24,300 at the gas station filling up (dude, buy a Prius)
* $17,220 on clothes
* $6,730 on laundry and dry cleaning
* $2,305 on pet care
* $1,620 on music and magazines
* $1,495 on cable television.
You want to know my favorite? The $114,946 that's listed as "miscellaneous (personal)" -- you know, walking around money, pocket change so you're never left without something to feed the meter or, I don't know, buy a new car or two without writing a check. (And just think how much money he'll spend now that he has all this free time over the next couple of weeks!) But when you're living this large, it's not all fun -- the guy also pays $75,261 in property tax alone, which I guess is what you'd expect from a 20,000 square foot mansion on the water.

He better think about what else to do after Basketball. I'm pretty sure the Heat won't pay him much for too long when the team is losing this bad.

This is what happens when you give a broke person money. (no racist). They dont understand the value of money. He'll probably be washed up in a few years.

I C.
I seen shaq on cribs and everything he owned was expensive and untasteful. I mean what purpose can you have for 20 italian super cars? Cars are one of the worst investments and the guy buys 20.

Re: Looking at Shaq's Monthly Budget
I was reading an article: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ortCat=nfl
about a former NFL player and how he let the money get to him also. He was paying people's rents, mortgages, ect, ect in the old hood. His mother who didnt care about him prior, comes all along wanting all of this and that and he bought everything. But him mismanaging it and blowing it off on stupid stuff like drugs and strippers caught up....he got suspended for abusing the drug policy and wasnt clean after so no one would take him on their team
NFL is worse than NBA, cause NBA contracts is guaranteed money, while in the NFL they can cut you anytime and only gotta pay your signing bonus which isnt going to be close to the total sum of the contract
thats why there are so many more broke NFL players right now, even current players might have to work in the offseason cause once the last week of the season ends, they dont get a game check for another 8 months....
people dont know how to manage money, esp these madows from the hood....

Re: Looking at Shaq's Monthly Budget
holly shit. thats a shame
Re: Looking at Shaq's Monthly Budget
I think that list is blown out of proportion. No way he pays 24K per month in gas. Its an exageration. And to most of you who think he'll be broke. He will NEVER go broke.
You're forgetting the money he made LA (175million in 96) his endorsements with Reebok, McDonalds, his extention in 2001 (LA again) and his (100million) in 2005 with the Heat.
Don't be gullible people
