Koronto: Suicide in Islam

Post by MJ-Pride »

I understand its controversial, but Is it OK for somebody to blow himself/herself up in an enemy territory? I was reading a fatwa from Yusuf al qardawi were he's saying its legitimate for someone to blow himself and kill the enemy. So whats your take on this?

Its forbidden, sxb and a major sin. The evidence for this is a verse in the Qur'an that says: "Do not kill yourselves..." And the punishment for the one who does it is severe in the hereafter. Some scholars say if its to aid the Muslims, then it serves a purpose...they cite an incident involving a Sahabi (Companion) who during a battle was thrown in to a fort full of armed enemy fighters, so that he could open a passage for the Muslims to enter the fort.

By Ijtimaa' (consensus) it is forbidden and inexcusable to commit any form of suicide. They say forget about actually killing yourself, a Muslim should not bring any type of harm to him/herself including not smoking, not drinking, not taking drugs, etc. The human body is a vessel entrusted to us by Allah and we have to take care of with great care.

What were his justifications for it.

Finally Koronto gave a correct answer. This is the reason why the scholars have refute this individual, Yusuf Qardawi, he makes some weird fatwas that are not based on the shari'ah but his opinion. He believes that music is Halal and that he has a favorite female singer. Also he believes in defensive Jihad only. Also he believes that the conflict between the Jews and Muslims is not religious but about Land. So my advise is not to take anything from this individual.

I am baffled and don't know who to follow. does that mean the Akhwaan Muslmiin, al ittihad sects are all on the wrong path?

AL-itixaad and Ikhwaanis wallahi are misguided groups. How can you follow a group that was invented like Al-itixaad several years ago? Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen was founded in 1920's. so all these groups are amongst the groups which the prophet told us about. As muslims we don't follow or enter into any Firqas(sects). We follow the book of Allah and sunnah of the messenger with the understanding of the salaf, Period. Dividing into groups is Haraam and forbideen. that is my advise to you, MJ-Pride.

Like the name. Lol
