somali university students and political science
why are they all majoring in political science? i don't get it. first of all, almost half of em' are in it for the wrong reasons...thinking its gonna avail them with some notoriety of social political awareness..walking around campus exuding "fock to establishment" attitude with the Palestinian scarf wrapped around their necks while sippin' on starbucks coffee. lol.
to those that can materialize this discipline(political science) into an actual career, go for it, laakin' the rest need to stop wasting student loans on something they have little to no earnest interest in and study something that can produce a viable life long plan for them.
sorry if I've offended any political science students in here, nothing personal. LOL.

Lol, I'm not sure where you go to school, but in my corner, most of the Somali students are doing, biological sciences, computer science, Business administration or criminology for the young high school graduates. I have yet to meet poli-sci majors, yes I have seen few that have taken Poli-sci, and sociology as an electives, but not as majors. Oh, and I've noticed that the new it thing to study recently is kinesiology, and those who study it are those who could not get through to biological sciences.

Re: somali university students and political science
I succeeded in successfuly getting my Friend to change his major from Political Science after a long struggle. He's now doing Medical Technology and should finish soon Inshallah. I told him unless Your White and Your Dad's a Congressmen, its a waste. I told him Political Science is no career for a skinny.
I wish we all had influential Dads. George Bush's Dad George Bush Sr brought him a MBA from Harvard. I'll bet both of my balls that dumb fock didn't earn no degree, lool..

Re: somali university students and political science
Well, some of the Poli-sci graduates, not sure about Somalis tend to go to law school. There are a lot of careers in the discipline, not just becoming a politician, lol. There are those who become policy consultants, policy analysts, Foreign Service officers, political strategist, lobbyist, etc.

suria,
i live in Toronto, it seems that most kids comin' outa high school are enrolling in P.S in droves. and the weired thing is that most of them have little passion for it. i know some of em' that are approaching their third year in uni but have few more years to go to graduate coz they slacked off so much talkin' skippin' class, poor GPA etc. and the SSA is a joke walahi. they need to help steer these kids into the proper direction in the uni life instead of organizing parties.
cawar,
you're an optimist huh? glass half full. its a glass with a hole in this instance. lol.
murax,
good for u, you're friend is gonna thank you in the future.

Re: somali university students and political science
Zulaika are you sure about that??
Wallahi the Somali students here are all focused maashaalah and the only ones doing Poli SCi are doing it as a double major.
The most popular majors for the Somalis I have seen are public health, medicine, information technology, and business!
I am a double major myself, Neurobiology and International Relations

Especially here, there arent many jobs for graduates within their field. Poli-Science majors end up flipping burgers at McDonalds or going back to school.
