Any Somali who stood against the colonials is my hero. Some peole here accuse me of having anti-clan motives in bringing up articles like these. I know that qabil is the cancer of Somalia and is basically more important to most of us than Religion. I understand and accept that. Laakin know that since both these groups You talk about are Muslim and there fighting for the wrong reasons that the stronger group will win as one group isn't more righteous than the other. I hate to be brought down to tribal b.s and discuss things that have no merit or are not in the way of Allah (swt) and his Path but if as a Muslim I have the accurate information, it is my duty to set the record straight.

Akhii Guhad you posted one xeroxed paper written by someone concerning ONE event and you used it as a sweeping generalization and I do not know if you did this because of intellectual limitations or because it suits your purpose but I will set you right.

For one those Marehans bolted not because they were cowards or feared anyone save Allah (Swt) but they ran because their OBJECTIVE was not to fight for the British but to seek justice from Abdirahman Mursal and his militia who supported the first British war against them when they were rewarded by getting the camels looted from the Marehan. When the Marehan then signed to join the British against Mursal (labeled as a "sweet revenge" for them) their objective was NOT to do the fighting for the British let alone die for them, but be with the British enough to do what Mursaal did, which was to be given the camels of the losing side. It was all a political calculation since Abdirahman Mursal supported and contributed to the first British attempted disarmament which was against the Marehan. Marehan had no reason to die for the British, that did not suit their purpose one bit.

INFACT if you go to your school library and get the book, THE KING'S AFRICAN RIFLES from the catalogue sections, it is a 600 page book documenting British offensives in Africa, the ONLY chapter they have on Somalis is a chapter called the "THE MAREHAN OFFENSIVE" in that book you can see the Ogadeni and Ugandan troops that were recruited by the British to help fight the Marehan, you have pictures of actual war footage and detailed maps and see the actual cache of weapons the Marehan used against them. This was the only majority British offensive which started way before Abdirahman Mursal even that caused the Marehan seek revenge by doing what Abdirahman did to them, which was to support the British to get their camels after they were looted. Go to your library and check it, it is called THE KING'S AFRICAN RIFLES.
