Police say 49 insurgents surrender in Mogadishu:

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Dozens of members of an Islamist insurgent group handed themselves over to Somalia's interim government in the capital on Sunday, police said.


"Forty-nine fighters from al-Shabab surrendered to the authorities in Mogadishu this morning," said a police officer who asked not to be named. He was referring to the military wing of a sharia courts group ousted from the capital last year.

He gave no other details, and insurgent leaders could not immediately be reached for comment.

Somalia's government and its Ethiopian allies face a persistent Islamist insurgency in Mogadishu. Rights workers say fighting in the capital killed 6,500 people last year. (Reportng by Abdi Sheikh; Writing by Daniel Wallis).

Ninyaho who ever the Insurgents are they are losing what ever war they are waging. If These guys have any Hawiyenimo, Somalinimo or even Islamino in them they would have stoped fighting long time ago it's only Hawiye that continue to die in Mogadishu while the rest of Somaliweyn Watches and laughs.

Al-shabaab is a rogue group who do not listen to common sense or even the ICU leaders. Their attacks are not logical, but are operating with the same mentality as other fanatical groups.

I am supporting the TFG because of clan affiliation( to be honest) and I understand they bunch of warlords, but at least its better they are better than the trigger happy thats the ICU or its wing Al-shabab. Those people don't even know what negotiation and are very aggressive
