I was entertaining moving to Canada and wanted to know some information on Alberta. There is a career fair for jobs in that province happening soon.

1. How is Alberta ?

2. Do many Somalis live there ?

3. What are the best cities to live there ?

4. Cost of Living - Is it high ?

5. Taxes - Higher or lower than say Ontario ?

Many alcholic Tdot people moved to Edmonton which has the largest somali community in the province. Taxes are very high in all canada except QC. best city to live is Calgary, my cousins have been living there for years now and the somali community is very small. Also winters are brutal but they have good beef.LOL If u are not in the Oil business this isnt the right place for ya to move.

how can u say there aren't that many somalis there? did u forget about the infamous 04'-06' exodus of nomads outa t.dot to alberta? LOL. bisinka it became a rash or something...everyone was heading out there.

alberta is a very rich province..rich in oil and other natural resource commodities. there's plenty of money to be made there(especially in the industries i've mentioned). so if you have a background in economics, engineering, transportation of dangerous goods(oil/natural gas etc)...then go for it.. you'll be rich. lol.

and i've heard of somali truck drivers working with oil companies over there making something like $15,000/month..no lie .lol.

those truck drivers who make that kinda mullah usually have their own gear(trucks) and are self employed.

as for cities..i would imagine its cadaan town so if you don't mingle with em' u won't see any negative factors...there's a sizable somali community in calgary. before the only somalis you'd find there were alcoholic loosers who ran away from the critical somali public eye..and some somali chritians, but lately its a mix bag of nuts with somalis of all types..kinda like t.dot. but unlike t.dot...it's still a predominately a white town with loads of native indians so proceed with caution. lol.
