Gas Prices: what is your limit?
I had to get gas this morning before coming to work and the cheapest i found was $3.50 a gallon. at this rate we're going to see $4.00 a gallon by June, so for those of you that drive, what is your limit? at what point do you stop driving?

WTF petrol is much cheaper in the US than here in Britain. The cheapest here is around 1 pound 49 pence per litre that's something like 6 pounds 70 pence ber gallon.

Screw,
You are getting caught up with the gas prices at the pump too much.
Have you seen what milk is costing nowdays ? Out here its nearly 4.99/gallon.
The real cost occurs in the price of everday items due to higher transportation costs.

Re: Gas Prices: what is your limit?
dadku waa xoolo and blind consumers. i think the oil companies tested our limits after Katrina, the prices out here jump to $1.30/litter. people cried foul but still continued to pump gas like business as usual. and the oil man is back again with bigger greed...i heard this summer is gonna be hell with prices jumping to $1.40/litter.
i'm thinking of buying a hybird car, i hear they give good mileage to the tank.

Zulaika,
Hybrids don't make any sense unless the government gives you a tax credit for buying one to offset the premium paid. In the US, its $3,600 on average. The Hybrid premium can be about $5,000. You also have to take a good look at the vehicle and see how well it preforms as a hybrid. Some cars like Chevy's hybrids only have 4-5 gallons more efficiency.
If you also commute mainly on the highway, hybrids are not that more efficient than a regular vehicle. To get the most bang for your buck, you save the most gas in city driving.

abdi,
really? what i hear about hybrid's(from owners) is quite the contrary. maybe it depends on the maker of the vehicle i guess...I have a friend who recently purchased a hypbrid honda civic. he is amazed at how little trips he makes to the gas station. and it runs well on highways too. he lend it to me for one day to test drive it coz i'm really considering buying one. it runs smooth, its ultra quite like u don't even think the engine is on.

Zulaika,
If u paid $5-6,000 more for a Hybrid, how much cost savings in gas are you having to make up for that additional cost. Check this out:

Zulaika,
Once u take a closer look and factor in high insurance premiums, more expensive service (since its electronic) and the potential cost of a battery replacement after the 7 year warranty along with the risk of extra danger in a car crash (firemen won't use Jaw's of Life to cut into a hybrid with the doors stuck due to electronic shock fears).
