Somalia and ancient Egypt

The ancient trade center of Opone on the east coast of Africa was mentioned in the Periplus Maris Erythraei (Periplus of the Erythraean Sea), written by an anonymous Greek trade merchant about 40 AD.
Archaeologists believe that the most likely location for this city is that called Ras Hafun, located in Somalia. Artifacts at Ras Hafun recovered by archaeologists led by Henry Wright of the University of Michigan have included Egyptian, Roman, and Arabian Gulf pottery.
This glossary entry is part of the Dictionary of Archaeology. Sources for the term include the references listed on the front page of the Dictionary, and the websites listed in the sidebar. Any mistakes are the responsibility of Kris Hirst.

I've researched this extensively, and I'm convinced that Opone is not actually at Ras Hafun but just south of it, around Eyl. The Periplus describes Ras Hafun in great detail but refers to it as the promontory of Tabae, then the town just south of it as Pano, then the market of Opone being just south of Pano.
The Periplus is just one of many references to Somalia in ancient times. This website has done a commendable job of finding many more, and those are arguably even better than the Periplus.

The whole notion of this statement is ridiculous.

The Chinese have a much better historical knowledge of Somalia than the west, they have been exploring and mapping the East Africa coast for a thousand years.
Look at how the Chinese draw East Africa, based on ancient maps from Chinese explorers, who were much more scientific than the early western ones.

One of your masked lies. I saw no map of Africa if there was you would have gotten me the exact link even so I skimmed through and they all say maps of China.
Like I said, stick to Wikipedia side-show Bob.

It's part of the maps of Asia. Look at this map from 610 A.D.

It shows how Somalia was part of the vast trade network that linked Indonesia and China with India, Arabia and Egypt.

Northeastern,
Is there anything to suggest that at one time the landscape of Bari was different back then? We know through some research that was done in the Sahara that the Sahara used to be an ocean at one point in time.

Most of the Sahara was grassland like the Haud and only started to become desert after 3000BC.
5000BC it was savannah and jungle, as can be seen from the cave paiting at Tibisti
