TO ADMINS:

This is not a political matter alone, it is something which belongs in the general section too since we cannot post topics about Islam on the General Section while we hide the issue relating to the massacre committed against culama'udieen in Somalia.

We can not post topics which are about Islam, while ignoring the massacre against the very men who were supposed to teach society about the blessings of our beloved religion.

Clerics killed in Somali mosque

and insurgents.

The bodies of 10 people have been found in a mosque in the Somali apital, after two days of clashes between Ethiopian troops and insurgents.

Local residents blame the killings on the Ethiopians, who are backing the government against Islamist fighters.

Six of the dead are religious leaders from the Tabliq Sufi sect, which is not involved in the conflict.

Some 70 people were killed over the weekend, local residents say. Sporadic shooting can still be heard.

Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein says the government was defending itself during the weekend clashes.

But locals accused the Ethiopians of shelling the residential areas of Hurwa and Yaqshid in north-eastern Mogadishu, after they came under attack.

'Slaughtered'

Aden Haji Yusuf, 60, was one of the local elders helped to bury the dead on Monday.

"We are now out, for the first time in two days, to discover the dead bodies of some neighbours and bury them," he said.

Tabliq official Shiekh Abdi-kheyr Isse said the Ethiopians had "slaughtered" the clerics.

"The Ethiopians surrounded al-Hidaya Mosque on Sunday and killed [the] mullahs mercilessly, including Sheikh Sa'id, the chief of the group in southern Somalia," he said.

Local resident Yahye Sheikh Muse said he had seen the dead bodies of three of his neighbours after the fighting.

More than 100 people have been injured.

Abdi-wali Hashi, only got the chance to take his mother to Daynile Hospital in Monday.

"I could not venture out, even to check next door, where my mother was bleeding because of a gunshot wound on her leg," he told the BBC's Mohammed Olad Hassan.

"The sound of the heavy gunfire for two days is still echoing in my ears," he said.

Meanwhile, Islamic militants of the al-Shabab movement are still holding the south-western town of Wajid, 90 kilometres (52 miles) north of Baidoa, the current seat of the interim parliament.

They took the town on Sunday, shutting down video cinema and kiosks selling narcotic leaves known as "khat" and also forced some boys in the city to shave their heads because they had their hair cut into western styles, witnesses said.

"Heavily armed young men, who masked their faces with turbans, have been in control of the town and they have also been patrolling in the streets," local resident Madey Isaq Nur told the BBC by telephone.

"Islamic law does not allow video cinema and all kinds of narcotics and that that is why we prohibited them here during our presence," militant commander Hassan Mo'alim Ibrahim told the BBC.

"We are not going to leave the town until we set up an Islamic administration for the local people," he said.

The prime minister blamed the violence on the Islamists.

"The government is sorry about the fighting and loss of innocent civilian lives," he said on Sunday.

"Our aim is to restore law and order through reconciliation and peaceful means, but that does not mean our troops and those of our ally Ethiopia will not defend themselves as they come under constant attack."

The UN says that more than half of Mogadishu's population has fled recent fighting in the city.

The Ethiopians intervened in 2006 to help government forces oust Islamists who had taken control of much of southern Somalia.

The country has not had an effective national government since 1991.

IF THIS IS A POLITICAL MATTER, then so is the Topic ''Islam is Perfect''

I dont disagree with the thesis of the topic, but one who does can see it as a political matter since the logical argument that follows it is: ''Lets govern our country by Islam''.

See how divisive it is to judge some topics as political while others not?

Ethiopian soldiers accused of Somali massacre

Rights group says 21 civilians killed at mosque, 41 children taken prisoner

NAIROBI, Kenya - Amnesty International accused Ethiopian soldiers on Wednesday of killing 21 people, including an imam and several Islamic scholars, at a Somali mosque and said seven of the victims had their throats slit.

The rights group said the soldiers had also captured dozens of children during the raid on the Al Hidaaya mosque in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, earlier this week during operations against Islamist insurgents.

Ethiopia has thousands of soldiers in neighboring Somalia to bolster a Western-backed government against rebels fighting an Iraq-style insurgency in the Horn of Africa nation.

The Ethiopian and Somali governments have not responded publicly to accusations of atrocities at the mosque. But they have frequently denied abusing human rights in the fight against groups they call al-Qaida-backed terrorists.

HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH is irrelevant. Only what the US government says, that those massacred were terrorists, counts.

The Dirty terrorist scum al Shabaab have resorted to hiding in mosques when they couldnt take the heat. These filthy mooryaans dont have the guts or tactics or technical knowhow to mount a skilled guerrilla campaign so they just hide behind women and wadaads.

Somaliweyn, stop shedding crocodile tears, mooryaans like al shabaab have been immiserating the people of muqdisho for 17 years. They gang-raped 7 year old girls, they killed wadaads like Boqolsoon, they killed intellectuals like Yaxye and Elman.

It was a sad beginning to this week for all of us Horns. It is a shame that makes me cringe. To go into the most holy place (Church or Mosque or Synagogue) and do these sort of things is astonishing, cowardly, and reminds me they have no morals whatsoever. Meles and the Ethio troops are such a disgrace and embarrassment to me. I've heard all kinds of things that the Ethio troops are doing and it sickens me to my stomach.

Cilmiile/gemini,

Clearly animosity towards the people of Mogadishu drives you into the defense of this massacre while even Habashakid cant defend such horrific crimes.

Also, the Resistance cannot be undermined by the silly utterings of an old man that lost touch with reality. It amazes me everytime how passionately you can defend Sayyid Muhammed Abdulle's struggle and the dervish guerrilla tactics, while at the same time criticize the current resistance struggle.

The only explanation lies in clan-reasons, and not in Somali-motivated reasons.

This massacre has been recorded and will not be erased from the minds of Somali people.
