You know really the word poor can be defined in many ways.. a man/woman that is wealthy beyond imagination but yet need to pop pills in order to get a decent sleep or drink their minds off so that they would not "think" or drink in order to have good "time" now my dear that is a true poverty.

You will not find a poor person in third world countries that wishes to die or commits suicide or suffering from depression. If anything they try to survive.. why do you think they want to survive? and why is the wealthy person popping drugs and wishes to die?

What exactly do you view as poor? Is it materialistic poverty? Spiritual poverty? Moral poverty?

Which of those is worse in the sight of Allah (swt)?

Allah, The Most High says: "We will surely test you in your wealth and in yourselves and you will hear many hurtful things from those who were given the book before you and from those who associate others with Allah. If you are steadfast and beware of Allah, that is the strongest position."
Aal 'Imraan: 186

So it's obvious that Allah (swt) will test the Believers - so they remember Allah (swt) and that Allah (swt) created us from nothing, is in full control of all events and is the one who we will face for judgement in the hereafter. This is the consciousness of the qadr (omnipotence) of Allah Most High. This is the consciousness which gives us patience and steadfastness before whatever tests we may face from Allah (swt)

Allah tests those He loves, and the more He loves one, the more one is tested. You have only to look at the life of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and see the tests he was subjected to by Allah (swt).

The more you're tested in this life, the better it would be for you in the next life - but that's only if you keep faith in Allah (swt) & endure all the hardships you face by keeping patient & remaining thankful to Allah (swt), and keep remembering Allah (swt).

You sound Sufi. Muslims are supposed to enjoy this life and the one to come. Of course there are tribulations, obstacles, tests, challenges, etc-- but it afflicts both Muslims and non-Muslims. In just America, there are tens millions of Christians who suffer from poverty. In Haiti, almost the entire population (+95% Christians) live in poverty and survive on UN food handouts.

other people aint our problem-muslims were told to be patient if allah bring tribulations, obstacles, tests, challenges. there will be great reward. we cant complain now and want to go to heaven!!
