What can an average Somali man cook?

Less be honest we are not the best of chefs, some (most) of us Somali brothers expect food to be cooked ready, served and all that to be done by the sisters, wives, mums - women in the house hold, plus washing, cleaning and many more.

In Islam we know that the Prophet (saw) use to help his family in every aspect in their life, even when it comes to house work (cleaning) and he was the best of creation.

The best of us is the one who is best with his family!

Wa-alaikum Salaam walaal,

I don't agree with the word 'expect' - you shouldn't expect it but you should appreciate it instead.

However, I agree with the rest of your post. The Prophet (saw) is indeed the best of creation- and such a positive role model for us - especially for the brothers.

Scrambled egg and omelet dishes are easy. I used to take a can of menestroni or vegetable beef soup, mix with three eggs, pour into a skillet with oil or butter and fry. Fast, and minimal cleanup.

Oriental rice cookers are great.

Even tough meat left in a crock pot all day or overnight with water makes good eating and a broth-gravy that is great with bread, rice or pasta.

Canned kidney beans heated with a pound of fried hamburger, onions, and chile sauce makes a pot that will last for several days, good on pita bread, etc.

No skill involved...... :)

^ That is because you overcook it and you don't know how to measure the water.

^ Try using the same pot and practice with it. My problem is using different pots, I never know how much water is enough.
