Who are the Opposition in Somalia? Is peace possible?
There are 2 Anti Ethiopia and TFG forces;
First faction is made up of warlords, politicians, businessmen and Muslim Scholars who were not educated or don't follow Bin Laden's Jihadist version of Islam like Sheikh Sharif, they are willing to take part in the peace talks. This faction's primary concern is the withdrawal of Ethiopian forces from Somalia.
The second faction is Al-shabaab who believe the concept and dreams of Osama Bin Laden and want to establish a Horn of African Islamic State and they are more the extreme elements of the insurgency. They had a more radical agenda which has little or no chance succeeding, that is why they oppose any peace talks.
Is peace possible? I Expect the war to continue till 2050.

Hizbul Shabaab
The Hizbul Shabaab, also known as Al-Shabaab, or simply as "Shabaab", is the Youth Wing of the ICU. It is a radical and somewhat independent organization under the ICU umbrella which is integrated quite tightly with the ICU armed forces, acting as a sort of "special forces" for the ICU.
The Shabab has caused difficulties for the ICU in maintaining a good international image on a number of occasions due to their hot-headedness and zealousness, such as abducting critical journalists, harassing overly-hip youngsters, and most infamously, murdering wounded JVA soldiers in a Bu'aale hospital.[31]
The ICU formally apologized for each of the incidents, and attempted to make it clear that these actions did not reflect ICU policy. Nevertheless, these incidents gave their opponents excellent propaganda ammunition, and aided the global perception of the ICU being like the Taliban.

They already did it. There was a golden 6 months of peace and stability under Al-Shabaab, the only group that successfully managed to do it in more than 15 years.American-Suufi wrote:Did you think they can bring peace and stability to Somalis? How?

Listen you brainwashed somali kids,
Like it or not, Either alshabaab's ideology would prevail or somalian would burn like baqdad and Kabul. They are determined, they have a guaranteed tickets to the highest heaven, and they are all under 30yrs old. Each one of them is determine to liberate somalia or die on the course. This so called peace meeting shit is dramaticed by Ethiopia who want to stay in somalia forever. Ahmed wallad abdalla was in addis last week to get the agenda for the meeting from Melez. Ashabaab is more than 20000 armed somali commandos and they keep on increasing in # everyday. as long as one of them is alive, Ethiopia and so called puppet government would either leave or burn in hell.

Umm, it was not Al Shabaab. It was the Union of Islamic Courts. Al Shabaab was a small part of the courts.eternauta wrote:They already did it. Al Shabaab was an elite wing of the Islamic Courts and they could do what the ICU did.FAH1223 wrote:Umm, it was not Al Shabaab. It was the Union of Islamic Courts.
