haha wallahi that made me laugh. "soo noqda" kulahaa. these idiots were killing kids for watching soccer on tv. they wouldn't blink about killing a songstress. there was nothing golden about it. south somalia, or whatever left of it, was deteriorating because it was becoming a taliban state... where, well, uhm, life was banned pretty much.

on a side note, miss mursal was in africa at the time performing in kenya. to go to somalia was a side trip, and a chance to go see her old neighborhood of baar ubax-- and how it no longer is recognizable. she never wanted to "live" there and did not stay more than a week
