I've noticed most Somalis are ultra competitive with each other...there could be 2 Somalis in a group of 100 other cadaans at work and the other Somali will specifically decide to compete with you and as long as he/she's doing better than u, they don't care who else is ahead of them. Even if you two get along, they'll always wanna make sure they're at least above you, even if that means they're 2nd from the bottom, it's ok with them.

Or is it jus me who has some fukked up Somali co-workers?

Hahahaha@2nd from the bottom. I haven't noticed that but I do compete with my non-somali coworkers. I try hard to get the promotion myself instead of them. But somalis do compete with themselves......it explains why there are 100 hilib halaal stores in every city with more than 100 somalis.

Exactly. the thread starters notion is a highly accurate observation. i believe its coupled with the individualistic character of somalis. although it is quite an overkill copying each others businesses all the time, this sort of competitiveness is one of the few qualities that makes me proud over our race.

One thing Somalis do often that is sort of related to this topic is, the minute a guy sees someone talking to a girl he is related to or something, he will go run to her parents and ask them for her hand in marriage. This shitt happens in Somalia a lot. It is a different form of cockblocking.

I have heard of tons of stories where this happened. lol As soon as a guy talks to a girl and wants to marry her, some dude from her extended family or just the same clan will come along asking for the girls hand in marriage.
