What was happening in Somalia between 1995-2005? Because people always talk about when the ICU was in power in 2006 and the Ethiiopians invading Mogadishu. But what was happening before they came?

Mogadishu was warlord haven, many warlords, checkpoints (They made a lot of cash from), business went on...some reconstruction of the city took place such as the Mogadishu University...but there wasn't anything like 1991-1992 or what we have seen the past 18 months...
And the surrounding areas in the central regions had the normal skirmishes...
The deep south saw the Al Itihad wars in Gedo...the Ethiopians intervened much like we have today...killed many people, Somalis put a stiff resistance there

So why couldn't they form a government during those ten years? I'm just trying to understand why Somalis allowed the country to be in complete anarchy.

Why don't Somali men in the West go back to Somalia and fight for their country? Aren't you guys sick and tired of watching as things get worse?

There were many attempts at forming a government, but all were stiffly opposed by the warlords. The TFG was formed out of the main opposition to the nationalist Transitional National Government of 2000-2004, the Ethiopia-backed, warlord-stuffed SRRC, which the TNG was more or less forced to recognize as the new government, though not all TNG members and supporters did.

You have to be a warlord to do anything in Somalia. You're degree ain't shid in Somalia, sorry
The idiots who destroyed Mogadishu and pillaged its people and made the civilians suffer for 15 years opposed any attempt at a government. But when their Ethiopian masters backed the new TFG in 2002-04 they shipped to it in an instant.

Why do they have the power to oppose a government? Why can't they be stopped? Should we just watch from our tv screens as things get worse? Why is everyone so helpless and feel like nothing can be done?

Snowflakes,
U will never understand Somalis so keep on moving. The people opposed to Somaliland's independence are natives of Sool & Sanag. Talk to them.
