I have observed many somali families and almost all share the same characteristics......some avoid each other in public and dont even speak to one anotha, some are always together and communicate like best friends. Just today, I sat with my oldest brotha and was advising him on alot of things and surprisngly he didnt lash out against me and he actually listened. marka what is ur relationship with your siblings speceally the ones that are older than you?

I am the oldest and i am in control they are all scared of me they never mess with me but they know i am just i take them places i stand up for them i can tell when one is lying to our parents to get the others in trouble i know everything about them they are annoying but i like them and they all like me but also fear me.

In my family we are so different. I dont see any of my siblings as my best friend. The only thing we have in common is our DNA and I am so sure 1 of us must have been adopted (lol) My parents and others have given up on us reconciling. Yeah we have our ups and downs like any normal family but we are not the dysfunctional ones.

Yeah the majority I get along with them.

Yep! but I never start it though hehehe! but it doesn't happen often though.

Yeah we talk endless and share allot, when we aren't on each others throats

Nah that ridiculous if we are not in speaking terms then we tend to avoid seeing each other in public places,


Siblings without rivalry is not easy to find nowdays especlially if the family is huge, Children need to be treated equally by both parents and be taught to get along etc. I think that is important and if this doesn't happen it could perhaps result into envy, hatred and huge problems for the rest of the family.

Well not physically, but we do get on each others nerves sometimes.

Me and my family get a long really well, we all know each other the best and know each others dhabeecad well. We fight, advice eachother and everything else. To be honest we are all friends from the oldest to youngest and its like we are all the same age well we treat each other the same...none of that age hierarchy exists.

when we were younger that was fun but the problem now he doesnt have friends his own
all his friends are mine and we all 17
it's ennoying me now he being around all the time inside the house and outside the house, in the majsid etc.
lately im not getting alone with him for that reason.
i never fough phycally ever but i send
him home when ever he wants to be with my friends if i saw him outside the house.

Yeah, I'd say the majority of the time, but being the oldest it is really annoying these days driving them to places because of gas...I need to start charging these kids

EVERYDAY someone in this house is fighting, I try to stay out of it....but if someone say my sister keeps saying stupid smart things I really will get angry and tell her to shut up. The boys don't fight as much as other Somali brothers I have seen though

Everyday, I been living with them since they came from the hospital.

Nope because most of the time we're in public together...didn't even really avoid each other in school when we all went together.
