Murax, I never said Luuq is dry, I said majority of Gedo really is dry EXCEPT for where Jubba river runs. Not the fantasy rain forest Qansa who supposedly grew up there was parading.
According to the many archived articles I have read, Gedo like most other Somali region has always had recurrent drought and irregular seasonal rainfall.

The only green in Gedo is where the Jubba river runs, the rest 90% of the region is no greener then Galgaduud or Mudug. It is a product of its geographical zone including southeastern Ethiopia and parts of NFD.
Luuq Ganaane is treversed by the Jubba River (known as "Ganaane River in Ethiopia"). By the way Luuq Ganaane the CITY and Luuq Ganaane the District are too completely different things. This does not look like the city but a tuulo ka tirsan the district anyways it probably dries up outside of the rainy season.

Still the landscape perfectly fits in the semi-arid savanna landscape that I said Gedo region and majority of Somalia is part of. Heck look at Caabudwaaq during the rainy season

Who in the bloody hell are Gasaargude?

Btw do Reer Ahmed still live in Luuq or did Reer Xassan kick them out? Axmed Sandheere the Reer Ahmed MP and My Pops used to take the camels/goats out of the city as kids.

Btw I was shocked to find out Yemenis used to dominate the business in the town and the richest Somali there was a Dhabayaco. Somalia used to be different

Voltage,

I was speaking about Baardheere/Luuq inparticular. I know Gedo has some dry areas but its Somalia's second biggest gobol so it has all sorts of features.

Murax, Qansa is right.

These pix are from the Raxanweyn and Dir (gaadsan) war that took lace between luuq and bakool recently. The people on the chairs making peace between them are Mareexaan

On the third picture where the two old man are giving each other hugs, the guy second from right with the gray pant suit is Cabdi Kaliil, the reer xassan deputy governor of gedo who went there for the event
